How to SPEED UP your Colored Pencil Drawings
Get your FREE Colored Pencil Beginner Class: www.kirstypartridge.com/colou...
Coloured pencils can be a very versatile art medium. Coloured pencils are great for adding fine details and definition to your drawings and I often use them to create realistic drawings.
The problem with coloured pencils and the thing that stops many people from trying them out is how time-consuming it can be to create a drawing with coloured pencils. Coloured pencils take a lot of time to layer and blend and so creating a drawing with them can take hours and hours.
But, sometimes you may just want to get a drawing done in one or two nights. Is there a way to create the same standard of coloured pencil drawings but in much less time? There sure is! I will give you the tip you need to create coloured pencil drawings fast.

Hi Kirsty! I have been really interested in realism with color pencils for a long time, and your videos are inspiring me to go on. My watch later list on youtube is filled with over a 100 different tutorials from your channel! I am only 10 years old and already my drawings look amazing because of you. I have already done a portrait, lots of fruits and now I am learning the basics of watercolor and starting a realistic eye drawing. Thank you! :)

You can also use Prismacolor Art Sticks. I have done that a number of times.
Your the reason why people get inspired to do art and use their creativity I love watching your content Please don’t stop You are an inspiration You explain everything so well and help in a lot of way
I’ve been using pan pastel for years, absolutely love them for my colour pencil base. You should try markers too

Using markers is a really fun way to do this for sure, but most of them aren't lightfast. Because of this I wouldn't recommend working this way if you want to sell your artwork. Hope this is helpful!

Omg I Love ur vids aswell!! I watch you and Kirsty all the time!!
I love that you use limited materials, but combine them in ways that make sense. 🌸 I love mixing media to save time too! 😅
I love the layering process with pencils, that is where I can relax and get the benefit of coloring for stress relief...BUT...there are times I want to speed up the process and not do as many layers. I have thought of using pastels under the pencils but hadn’t tried it yet, so thank you for the demonstration!
Kirsty, you are such a big inspiration to me! I'm a smaller youtuber struggling to post weekly. As a fan of colored pencil, this will DEFINETLY help speed up my my filming process, and give me more time to edit!

i mostly use pencils too, and i can't get myself to get too much into other media. but lately i've been starting to experiment combining coloured pencils with other media like you show here. i think mixed media is a great way to get yourself feeling comfortable with different media.
@FineArtforChrist
3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I used to feel so uncomfortable with paint in comparison to pencils. By using pencils and paint together i was able to ease into it by slowly using less and less pencils and more and more paint. Keep it up mixed media is one of the best things i've tried!
Thank you so much, Kirsty. I am a young artist and you helped me discover different mixes of mediums to suit my style. I learned so much!

Unrelated but here is my story💛💛 I am here to learn about coloured pencils, a medium that i hate and love at the same time. I prefer graphite over coloured pencils because graphite drawings only require tone transitions while coloured pencils has a quite new skill, which is blending. Blending colored pencil is not the same as blending graphite. That is why I draw portraits with graphite. This year, i planned to draw 4 of my closest friends for their birthday, i have done 2 of them though and i am happy to see their smiles. But one of them is like ughh so special in my heart🥺🥺 Last september was a stressful month and- that guy comforted me a lot, he gave me warmth and affection, I leaned at his shoulder, thinking that life is actually fine and suicide is not the answer. So here I am, watching videos on this channel, learning how to draw portraits with colored pencils, a medium that i am not familiar with yet. I want to master the skills of drawing portraits with this medium, so that I can give my first ever colored pencil portrait, to him just so he knows how much he worth in my life🥰 Also, if you are interested to see my drawings, my ig is @addibbo
U r all artworks and tips are awesome 👏 love ❤️ from 🇮🇳 india🤗🤗
