Class result. You finally managed to speed paint something that's an achievement in itself 😀. Can see the appeal of slapchop for the creamy blends

Haha yeah thanks mate! Slap chop wet blends are pretty good for how quick it takes.

That’s a great quality model in just over an hour. Have to get you to paint some of my ministries! My way of speed painting is do shit job 😂. But maybe that’s why I don’t speed paint and I take a month to finish the loneliest warriors of minas tirith. Great video. Your giving me hope for some contrast paint use in my future. Question. Do you find the dry brushing of the undercoat gives a different result to the miniature every time or does this have more of a place with contrast colours. I’ve just never done it before

Thanks man! Hey even a shit paint job is better than playing with grey plastic but yeah generally I like to take my time with painting. I haven't worked that much with contrast paints so this was a bit of an experiment. I think that like any technique it has strengths and weaknesses and it takes practise really get the hang of it. What I really liked about it was getting those smooth wet blends on the fur very quickly. That would have taken a lot longer using more traditional paints and layering even if I was to dry brush the fur. Not sure if that answered your question! 😂

I did something like this last month to paint Gothmog, Guritz, and Gothmogs enforcer, I was really happy with the results for the 3 foot guys and mounted model it took me 4 and a half hours. I used mostly contrast and dry brush and then added an oil wash at the end. Im really happy with how they came out, speed painting can look really good on orcs.

Nice 4.5 hours is bloody good for that many characters! Yeah orcs really lend themselves to that approach because they’re supposed to look dirty 😆

For troops it might be ok taking the speed-painting-way. For heroes or special models like the warg you painted, I would always take my time to finish it properly. So the additional time you took, was worth the final result 👍🏻

Haha thanks mate! Yeah I just couldn’t leave it looking too rushed. He really pulled his weight in my battle against Rangers of the North so he had to look good doing it 😆

Great vid. I'm not sure what I think of the contrast speed painting method overall but you did a great job and if contrast paints get more people painting im all for it!!!

Yeah I still prefer the more traditional method of painting with layers. Certainly speeds things up though! Cheers for watching 😁

Thanks for doing Adam, ive been thinking of whether to do my MESBG armies, slapchop or traditional, and I just think the colours are more vibrant the Traditinal way. I think I would do slapchop if I had 1 day to do an army for a tournament.... again i may be wrong as I am a noob but the colours in all the youtube videos from all the commentators online look subdued when slapchopped. What does it look like in person? does it look the same as in the video? Thanks for the vid, really useful to see for newbies like me.

Hey mate thanks for watching! You’re right in that slap chop does create a more muted look. I think it can it can work really well for certain minis like wargs and orcs. Wet blending warg fur speeds things up a lot!

For fundamentally terrible mini painters like me, slapchop is the ONLY way to get a decent paint job. For someone like you, the technique is clearly optional. Thanks for the demo Adam.
