Would this product work in a golf simulator as an underlay for putting turf? How firm is it to lay putting turf on top? Does it squish or maintain its height when laid down

Hi there, it should be fine if it's just under a putting green. It's not durable enough for hitting off of it, but putting should be fine. SONOpanX can compress if heavy objects are placed on it. 1/4 ply could be placed overtop for protection while maintaining performance for impact sound. SONOpan creates a solid barrier to stop and absorb noise, whereas MLV adds mass. These are 2 different elements of soundproofing and do different things. SONOpanX is better at absorbing impact sounds like footsteps. For more info, visit sonopan.com.

MLV is best for aerial sound , Sonopan is best for impact noise, combined together you probably have a very good solution. In Europe they have similar product: but sandwiche between MLV, supposedly it is a a excellent solution for flooring.

Is Sonopan waterproof? Planning on building a studio on the first floor of my house located near the sea. On the off chance of a flood will I need to replace the Sonopan?

Hello! My issue is with a downstairs neighbor who blasts loud music with a lot of constant thumping bass. Is there any way I can soundproof my floor so that loud, thumping bass sound doesn't penetrate through into my condo?

It depends on what kind of noise is bothering you. If it's airborne noise (loud music, shouting, etc.), you can apply SONOpan and drywall to your ceiling. If it's more of an impact kind of noise ( footsteps, dropped objects, or mechanical vibrations), you should consider SONOpan, resilient channel, and drywall. Sonopan is now the industry standard, I have personally seen it installed throughout Canada in new home construction. (Specifically in stacked townhomes for the reduction in low db sounds and increasing overall stc ratings between units.)

@@rcook2608 I have never seen it used once. It is not the industry standard, it is a new, untested product. I can't say if it works or not as I have never seen it before, but to claim it's the industry standard is an outright lie.

Actually Jeff from Homerenovision says the same about Brian but Jeff has reccomended this stuff for years now without being paid a cent by them. Shame they paid Brian instead of Jeff. I just installed it, works great for basement ceilings.

@@ravenstarver1360 HI Raven, I have an issue with the tenant living below my unit, I've tried to reach out to tenant's landlord but they don't want to talk to me at all, I want to try this product but I am unsure since the condo corporation told me it wouldn't work... have you notice a significant reduction in sound transmission? I'm kinda being onesided with this problem and I want to do something, what was your experience with this product?

Can you use them as furnace room flooring? Walk with bare feet and put heavy things?
