And how do you change your receiver/driver if it dies? I think building a box above it is far more practical

And to code. You can't bury a junction box behind drywall or sonopan. What's demonstrated in this video would fail an electrical inspection.

This looks amazong for keeping thing soundproofed. But maintenance or light changes look difficult. How would you male this easier on maintenance?

This is what I'm wondering as well. When the LED driver fails in 10 years you will have to cut a hole in the Sonopan and pray you don't cut a wire while doing it. (obviously the power will be off when doing this, but still...)

I guess you can precut a larger opening big enough to pull the driver through but then plug that cutout back in and seal it up again to prep it for the eventual replacement of the driver.

If any of those ceiling light boxes go bad… Maybe build a 2 sheets of 5/8 drywall enclosure above the ceiling light box up in between the floor joists and leave a 1” air gap between the insulation and drywall enclosure

If you ever need to get to the connection box, the SONOpan circle can be cut out and put back in place with a little acoustical sealant.

Any day Sonopan wants to start delivering or selling in the US that would be great. Looking forward to it

why? I have found no credible measurments that shows sonopan works any better than standard sound proofing methods: Drywall, resilient channels, rockwool/fibreglass. The spec sheets never compare to standard soundproofing.

I think this method is problematic regarding fire separation, not to mention maintenance of the lighting fixture its self. Bad idea.

Just disappointing Sonopan hasn’t responded to several comments on how this method effectively buries the connectionas in the ceiling making them inaccessible. Sonopan, DO BETTER!
