man i been running loops with items to have inventory of lower tier items and i knew there was a way to use logistics this way i just couldn't figure out a functioning way,,.. thank you for figuring out a solution to a serious problem lol this is exactly want i wanted, to keep some of a certain items as back up without having to make a new line to keep some as back up inventory

There's some useful ideas here. However, 4 ore make 1 bar, if I were to sort, I'd do so after smelting down. Still not sure why I would though, considering I can send it all straight into construction and manufacturing - which is where sorting does start to get confusing. I'm not sure how sorting ore at the beginning of the process would make that any less convoluted though. If anything I need a logic nerd to say "well actually" and write me a diagram. Then I can pop him back in his home on Reddit :D Maybe I'm missing something here... Well thought out vid though, thanks!

Thanks for the comment, I think it really just comes down to how you like to do it, there a definitely more than one way that are just as effective. This is the way that i like to do it, i like the way it looks and works. But there is nothing wrong with keeping it all together either as far as i know.

Really good video. Definitely going to play around with this. May go with the approach of blocking input, rather than restricting output(because each machine already has internal storage) - i.e. IF there are lets say > 2000 copper wire stored, don`t allow more copper plates into the machine. That way lets say if I grab 1k copper wire, it will automatically fill up it up back to 2k, and hopefully down the line, fill up the missing copper plates. Maybe for ease just have a central storage requesting stuff with bots, so can grab from 1 place and the rest of the factories will produce up to a certain limit. Will see if this works.

Let me know how that works out! I have tried the bots for moving items other than food and it seems pretty hard to get there pathing right. If you find a way i would love to know!

Warehouse inputs don’t need sorting, only outputs, so its usually beneficial to switch the warehouse to 4 inputs and 8 outputs.

You are correct that you don't need to sort the inputs, For me it gets harder to find what I need the more I have in each warehouse, so I like to keep it to 3 and if I only have 3 are coming in then I only need 3 coming out. I do agree that it would take up less space with having 8 items going into one storage though. It Would also take a little less logic too, Thanks for watching I'm always interested in how others are playing!

Easiest thing to do is take 4 lines in of random materials and put them into a single big warehouse. Then you can send up to 8 lines out filtered for the specific item you want. Technically gold and water being 1 line each is good as you cant go thru that much, meaning you have 2 outputs for the other 3 types.

You are not wrong! that is a good way to do it. I just didn't really like the way it looked but now that I'm thinking about it again I could have brought all of them under and it would have been okay..

Is there any reason you are using a pretty construction intense instead of just blocker logic blocks?

So basically you have one smelter processing one metal, when a single smelter can simultaneously smelt multiple metals.

Well I will admit that I like to keep everything as separate as possible, That is a personal opinion though. However this was about sorting, and storage not processing.
