How to Solve a Kirchhoff's Rules Problem - Matrix Example
ROW REDUCE LIKE DR SEUSS:
Oh, all those numerous and nasty equations!
All the plugging and chugging, it takes too much patience.
I've got just the thing for such an awful occasion:
It's mighty, it's sleighty! It's Gauss-Jordan Elimination!
First, our equations enjoy preparation.
Each variable is queued in ascending gradation.
Once aligned and accounted, their nice numeral agents,
Get bumped to a matrix in corresponding locations.
Next, we apply a few matrix operations:
Addition and subtraction. Division, multiplication.
Yes, our rows are massaged with arithmetication,
Until they're reduced to the simplest notation.
Lo', all of our multiplex math manueveration,
Concludes with a comely, concise configuration.
The name of this sexy and subtle sophistication?
She goes by Row Reduced Echelon Formation.
To the left: a delightful diag-one-alation.
To the right: our solutions, in column notation.
Such a time-saving tool! Such a cool calculation!
It's mighty, it's sleighty! It's Gauss-Jordan Elimation!

Real learning goes beyond the textbook, thank you for your creativity. Loved the way you explain.
Wow. Kudos on making a great video. I find it amazing you were able to film the exercise and leave enough time to voiceover the content, that takes some incredible planning or amazing skills!
I really wished my electrical teacher to be someone like you. Thank you so much for the video by the way!
I've been stuck on how to solve this using linear algebra for a while.... you answered all my questions and more. Thank you so much! please keep making vids, its hard to find good videos like these the higher i go into engineering. Youre awesome

Thank you! I kept messing up my matrix when i was doing these on my own. And instead of making a new current writing it in terms of the others is beautiful! learned a ton
Congrats, Dave! So glad to have been a help. Best wishes for a peaceful and prosperous journey!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! i passed my Physics class!!! this is a big help for me. More power to you Jesse Mason! God Bless!
This video explains things so well thanks. I couldn't find any good explanation and I was so confused about the loop law
Thanks a ton! I have exam coming up next week and today I took up an assignment of which I thought I could literally solve nothing and fail but after watching this I am able to solve most of them!!
This helped a lot. I use Cramer's method though. But your tutorial is so easy to understand. Saved me a lot of time reviewing. Keep it up!
You cleared all my doubts about how to choose current directions. Turns out we actually don't, hahah. Thank you so much!
YOU MAKE ME LOVE PHYSICS MORE! YOU SHOULD POST A LOT OF VIDEOS!
Thank you for explaining this subject perfectly for me .
Thanks a lot!!!!! I was confused for about a year. Thanks for explaining.
You, sir, are a life-saver.
Glad you liked it. Unfortunately, I don't foresee a Wheatstone Bridge video in the near future. Perhaps someday though.
Suddenly it's looking very easy . Thank You so much.
Helped me on my electrical engineering homework. Thank you!
So beautifully done. Thank you.
This video helps a lot, now I really understand Kirchhoff's Rules! Thanks! I hope I do well tomorrow on the exam!

nice! I learned something new. Time to apply what I didn't learn from my advance algebra class. 😂
I'm flattered!
i learned the beauty of the kirchoffs law from you,sir....THANKS A LOT...
Thanks for the poem too! Very easy to remember.
thank you so much !!!!! you just made my day better !!!!!

I love your videos, Jesse. Can you make one that details about the difference between how current flows through a short circuit and a fused circuit? This concept always confuses me. Thanks
Ohhhhhhhhh so glad you liked it!!
Thank you very much i have liked it. I was actually going to fail my papers , now i count an A+

Yes, but I recommend watching a 15min video on Gaussian and Gauss-Jordan elimination in double speed... It is a much quicker method. The alternative is to set a system of equations and solve with simple algebra. (x+2y=3 and 2x+2y=3 subtract 2nd equation from the first to eliminate y, find the resulting x, plug it back in and find y.) Of course, a 3rd equation makes simple algebra much more time consuming. Engineering demands max ease.
very helpful thank you man

great video thanks so much!

thank you sir it was so helpful for me to face my sem exam
thank you so much!
Thankyou for this video! I have a circuit with 3 loops. The first loop has a voltage source of 140 volt,( which is connected to ground from the negative side, a 20 ohm resistor and a 6 ohm resistor. The second loop had just a 5 ohm resistor and then the 6 ohm resistor from the 1st loop. The third loop has a current source of 18 A and the 5 ohm resistor from the second loop. When I apply the loop rule I cannot rewrite the equations so they aren't equal to 0. I cannot use that for gauss elimination, right? Is this even a technique I can use for such a circuit?
a 2 week discussion in college summed up in 10 minutes.
HELLO, exam is tomorrow if you are free please someone respond why does @ 3:04 mark we can see in equation B we get a "+6" when we are going WITH the current but he says against the current but in equation C which is the same thing except the battery we "-8" ??
this is fantastic. it really helps me

sir can we solve this problem using a 3x3 matrix ? (3x3 multiplied with a column matrix xyz/I1I2I3 equals to the numerical value)
can u plz explain how to find potential easily of a complex circuit?
