I have some tips to pass on that makes putting puzzles easier...for me anyway. 1. Lay all the pieces in rows. When your looking for a certain piece you just run your finger along the rows and look for it instead of searching a big blob of puzzle pieces. 2. Some puzzles have a "grain" in the paper. If you hold the piece so the the light reflects on it you will see the grain. (usually up or down or side to side. Then lay all the pieces out so the grain goes the same way. You have just cut out 50% of the guessing that way on multiple same colored pieces or puzzles that have the same small repetitive picture. 3. some pieces fit together but wont lock together. Use a small piece of painters tape to hold them together until you find the locking pieces around it. 4. When you take pieces from your rows, move the outer pieces in to fill their spots. This keeps the area you are searching in tight and smaller each time. 5.I use flat pieces of cardboard to put my color groups on. They stack nicely and the pieces dont move around on them easily. That way when your tired of working a certain color, you grab the next board of colors and put it next to the puzzle and work it for a while. 6 Take a break from a difficult puzzle and do a easy one. You will find when you come back to the hard one you will do much better. Hope this helps.:)

Thanks Tom, these are great tips. I had not heard of the 'grain' in the paper on the puzzle approach and will definitely try that out next time!

Hi Puzzles Please, I have a Crown and Andrews 500 piece puzzle from the UK 🇬🇧. This is my first try at jigsaw puzzles. Something I am not sure of is that some pieces of the same colour/pattern kind of fit together, same shape but a little bit wiggly or the edges overlap by about 0.5 to 1.0 mm, obviously not quite right ?. Any ideas ? Thank you 😊

There is a Value vs non value video on Lean made simple channel. I just think about how it is related to speed puzzling. What is the real value? Normally there are some standard process steps, unboxing, flipping, sorting groups based on edge/non edges or pattern or color. Then assembling small groups, or makeing first the edge. A lots of trial, rotating.... In the ideal world, every piece is flipped, and we know the exact location (no need to lookfor on the image), and can move there. This is the value. What are wastes here? finding, trial, put back, trial again, move small assembled parts, moving flipped and grouped pieces because we have too much inventory and we dont have enough space on table....😀😊

If it is a block color and piece shapes are not helping try looking at the size of the pieces (rows of the pieces are about the same length if it is a standard puzzle) and at the 'inny' and 'outy' bits (e.g. if the 'outy' bit is not central you know that the piece you are looking for will have an 'iny' bit that is not central either). Hope this helps

I do not like Ravensburger puzzles non lock ability. This makes putting them together very annoying.
