9:20 THANK YOU!!! I had this romantic idea of outdoor skating and when I bought my skates and hit the trails and sidewalks I couldn’t understand why I felt so unbelievably disenchanted. _Surely outdoor skating was what I was wanting to do?!_ It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that what I was pining for was WIDE👏🏻OPEN👏🏻STREETS❤️❤️❤️ It seemed counterintuitive as a beginner skater to place myself in the same place where cars travel so I stuck to trails and sidewalks, but the thing no one really explains (except you!) is that sidewalks and trails are not only made mostly for walking but they’re usually in worse shape than roadways, only they’re narrower making it even harder to slow yourself, catch or correct yourself and carving is nearly impossible because of the lack of width and the persistent cracks:( It took me a while to get over my fear of not being good enough and a few awkward moments of sticking my head out of the window when sitting at stop lights to “size up” a street and dreaming of putting my skates to it, BUT!! I finally did it! Safely. and carefully. And let me tell you, there is just..nothing..like it😌😌😌 The width. The emptiness (I choose to skate at night when the town is quiet and as a personal preference ). And _THAT_ is the feeling I’ve always dreamt of ❤️ Thank you for all these tips!!!🙌🏻
The tips is this video are invaluable! Chaya where are those future videos with Cuban Miss Elle that we were promiiissed??? 😋
Street skated all over Chicago this Summer and using the bike lane was awesome!

Hmu if you're skating downtown!
I love this!! You should totally make a video on your transition techniques! You are so smooth going from forwards skating to backwards! I typically jump turn, but when I have too much speed it makes me nervous!

Yes please!
Yess I've been wanting to get on Chicago streets for so long, walking to the park with my skates feels so lame and so many places look like fun but I just don't trust myself yet. Now I know I just need to get down the turnaround and I'll be set!
I've been skating for two weeks and I started street skating. On the second day of skating, I was going around my streets and pavements. due to that, I have a much better balance than most of my friends who have been skating for much longer.
I'm definitely going to try your staggered stance.
Thanks Miss Elle for the great video you are a really great coach your explanations are really clear and incremental hopefully you come and skate Margaret River one day!
Wow, you covered so much in 10min! Super helpful! Thank you.
Thank miss elle, I've recently started street skating around my town in England, it's great for your confidence skating on different surfaces and tackling obstacles and a welcome break from the ramps also it's a bit higher profile so there is definitely a cool factor to it as Ive never seen anyone else doing it so far! ( Hopefully I may inspire someone else to start skating one day.!)
Yay! Great video! Thank you!
Very helpful to go back to review as soon as I progress on my skating
Thanks for this awesome video! I can't wait for the next one 🤩
I loooove these videos, they are very helpful!
Another great video. I definitely need to invest in some softer wheels.
This is so perfect!!! I wish I would have seen this a month ago but I just kept on pushing and now instead of obstacles I see a good time 👌🏼
Wow~awesome ~👍👍👍👍👍
👍👏
At first i was not afraid to skate outside, i even did shooting the duck. But i got afraid for some reason, i fell once but not hard or anything like that. I want to overcome the fear! I am scared to go fast and to stumble over a rock. Committed to skate every single day.
I live in Hastings NZ. The roads are not smooth. Most of the roads are made with tar and gravel, and then there's a bit loose grit and gravel on top of everything.. the streets around here are bumpy and difficult for a beginner skater. The sidewalks are... Well, mostly bad, as well. Hideously bumpy pebbled textures in a lot of places and I instantly fall over if I try to go slow... There are some smooth patches. There are roots and things that have pushed the sidewalk up and big cracks to navigate. Tree buds, leaves, twigs, seeds, and whatever else everywhere: road and sidewalk. Is it possible to skate like you're skating on ground like this? Or should I prepare to never get to look quite that cool? I love how backward skating LOOKS like it feels. My balance is shocking and going forwards is just about my limit. I skate the sidewalk because the roads are not viable for me to skate on safely... I can't toe stop, yet. It seems that everytime I've try, I end up juddering the stop against the ground and it does more to make me lose balance than actually slow down; this is even on actual smooth ground of the skate park/ my old driveway. Any advice for my particular problems? This was an otherwise helpful video! Just not feeling confident I'll get there at the moment...
What advice can you give me if there is a street with a horrible ground with holes and obstacles? Is there any way to skate on it or is it better to take off the skates?
Are the karma skates also for beginners who have never used rollerskates before?
