One of te main reason is your laryn gets tired bcz of no practice ... that can lock yourl diaphragm and lose control of controlling the note, for those who dont use their speaking voice in singing and use the fake vocal chords to add more dynamics is a must a daily routine to strengthen the larynx

Thank you for your direct approach and demonstrations. I have sung professionally for nearly 40 years. Early on I was taught to inhale through my nose with short sniffs; then exhale through my mouth and fully. Is this incorrect? Thank you for All you do and responding Freya!

I searched up how to do the snowman challenge and this came up 😂

I have a really important question that will benefit lots of singers world wide. Does body fat play a factor in the outward expanding of the belly? When I “deeply inhale”, I feel that I have the support of a bull - strong, like the pull of black hole. I feel like the belly unanimously expands - complementing the “deep inhale” - outward if - let’s say - somebody has present fat. I - a male of tonal quality - don’t have fat to expand (well, I do. It’s just 1% - no judge). Let me reiterate my question. Does body percentage fat play a roll in the unanimous expansion of the belly?

When I do a hss I can hold it for 30s+ sometimes, but other times I can't go past 15 even though I have a lot of air still left.

Hey, I just counted her exhalation trick in seconds silently (although I mouthed my words) and it turned out she did it for ALMOST 40 SECONDS! About 37 seconds to be more precise. The typical duration is supposed to be 30 seconds at best, but this insanely talented woman held out that “sssssss” for several seconds longer! BOY does she have extremely good lungs! Makes me want to tell her something like “Hi Freya, I was wondering if you could be my human white noise machine for about a half-minute so I can sleep?”

I can’t even do the tummy expansion thing! Why is it so hard to tell if my belly is expanding purely with air or if I’m voluntarily using muscles? And I think where I get confused so often is how to know which way air is being inhaled just by feeling it. Maybe I’m just a habitually bad breather?

I can’t say for sure. (Sorry, I’m still internally giggling at the “HISSSSSSSSS” part, LOL!) but as I was saying, It’s a majorly confusing and frustrating concept for me. (Heh heh, “major”, a little bit of an accidental pun there.) because I have, and still do struggle to turn that information which is etched into my mind, into actual progress through my own biological senses and systems. The thing I notice as the beautiful Miss Freya over here is performing her big exhalation, is that she seems to let it out loudly, or at least at a medium volume, which to me makes it seem like she has some otherworldly, one might even say heavenly, skills and abilities with only her voice! If that doesn’t impress you, then I don’t know what will! 😎🤘👍 Side Note: I may have cranked the volume up a good amount, so maybe yes, but I still think hers was louder anyway. Not “the loudest volume one can naturally produce”, but loud enough so other people can hear you make that silly noise. I almost forgot to add that I started taking ACTUAL LESSONS not too long ago! I’ve always felt like my pitch was good enough. It’s just changing the direction of currents so to speak, that I’m still struggling with, but what I wanted to concentrate on more was just building my confidence in being able to just randomly start singing in public places without feeling weird.

I left the video thinking the same thing. I googled some stuff on that specific exercise, and I found out there’s a component that isn’t really mentioned here: resistance. And by that I mean that in addition to exhaling slowly, you should also focus on using your tongue and your teeth to better control airflow. If you make the S sound while letting as little air escape between your tongue and teeth, you should be able to combine that resistance WITH the hiss and the exhale, which should make it last longer. Essentially, breath support isn’t just controlled by only one factor. Another tip I’ve been coming up with for myself when it comes to anything is: “Don’t think too much or too hard about the actions you’re performing, because if you do that, you’re gonna be screwing up a lot.” So I wouldn’t dwell on one specific little thing too much, okay?
