How to sing high with power
Hello friends! I'm Madeleine Harvey and in today's video voice lesson, I thought we'd explore how to sing high with power. Power is that awesome combination of fullness and freedom. Today, we'll go over vocal exercises for power. This way, you'll learn how to sing high notes with power and ease. The tendency of many singers when they sing high, is to carry all the weight from the chest voice into the head voice. When this happens, pressure builds under the vocal folds and causes the larynx to rise. the result is a sound that feels strained and stiff. In order for us to sing high without strain, we have to strengthen the head voice. But just because we're going to be concentrating on head voice, doesn't mean your sound will be heady or weak. By the end of today's video, you'll learn how to sing high without strain by bringing both head and chest resonances together with equal strength, equal power and equal importance. This is the same feeling for how to belt high as well. Are you ready to learn how to sing high notes with power?
Think of your tone as a circular container that clicks together. In order to sing high without strain, your chest voice must adjust as it goes higher in pitch. This is so it can prepare for the lighter, finer coordination of head voice. In the same way, the head voice must lower and become heavy to prepare for the bulkier coordination of chest voice. When the two come together, you'll be able to sing powerful high notes with ease. Are you ready to sing higher? Ready to increase your range?

Imagine if at the end of the lesson she said "I'm messing with you. I just wanted to see if you would do it."
The way you look and talk at the camera makes it feel as though you are actually in the room teaching me and it’s such a good feeling! 😊

You are so voice nerdy I love every bit of it! Thank you, for sharing your knoledge in this amazing way!
God bless you Madeleine 🥰
I’m building me head voice thanks to you. I wish I had money to afford one of your lessons but I’m sure I’ll be able to do it pretty soon. In the meantime, this videos are pure gold and I really thank you for it. I always thought I was a terrible singer and said to myself that I should only be a guitarist. But I always wanted to be like David Gilmour: a decent singer who can rock a guitar solo. Thanks to you, I’m getting there. Thank you!!!
I looooved it Madeleine! It felt so great to my always-straining throat! ♥
This was my best head training everrrrrrrr, thank u for this amazing video,it's mesmerising ❤
Good explanation, easy to visualise and understand. Thank you

Thank you for the logical class - so helpful
AWESOME!!! :O It helps me very much! Thank you!
Absolutely fantastic exercise!
Wow this is fantastic!! I started taking singing lessons starting at age 68 because I just love to sing, and this exercise is really freeing up my higher voice. Thank you so much. I have always felt a difference in power between my voices and this changes that. I would also like to learn how to have less of a vibrato or wobble in my voice.
Great. Thanks.
Wow!!! Thank you so much! I have just hit high notes I haven't been able to hit since before I had laryngitis 2 years ago. It weakened my singing voice and I've been trying to get my high notes back. You helped me get my high notes back! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Thank you Madeleine!! I’m a singer and I love watching your videos! I’m just a lil Swedish singing girl passing by and I just want to say that they are sooo helpful! I love you and your videos and they really help me!❤️❤️❤️
Well, my voice is definitely out of shape because I feel the same in my throat as my legs do after going for a bike ride... :^) It works though! Thanks
i can tell you are so committed to this and i love it
