Ken is THE BEST Vocal Coach I have ever come across. I completely agree with the fact to no other vocal coache will "put their money" were there mouth is. Ken actually displays his concepts through physical example. There may be someone else doing it to this extent. If so, come out of the woodwork already or just let Ken continue to reign. Ken, you are truly amazing. It was your original Fogerty vocal clip that really secured my interest in your talent and direction. We all love you!! Keep up the great work!!

Thanks so much for your kind comment, Matthew. So many other so-called "vocal coaches" spend their time bashing my name, yet showing nothing of their own real "abilities" to sing. If they know so much, let's hear them sing. And sing. And sing... A LOT of REALLY Tough songs to sing. Start-to-finish... We're still waiting... You know why they don't show you. And if they can't do it, they can't teach you, because they don't know how to do it in the first place. See the truth for once. What you see and hear is what you get.

Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy ==> Ken, I am humbly requesting that you do a video on “how to sing like classic Geoff Tate of Queensryche and Todd De La Torre formerly of Crimson Glory and currently of Queensryche”. I’ve watched De La Torre nail all the old Queensryche tunes seemingly with out strain or fatigue. He seems to sound great with minimal effort. I’d like to know “how” it’s done as it seems different from pushing the chest voice timbre upwards blending with head voice. The vowels seem different and if you can’t show how to do ir then maybe it can’t be done...

This is absolutely incredible. Thanks Ken! Sometimes I get applause when I sing Karaoke. I try to give you a plug, because I have been using your methods which are definitely working. With the methods you teach, I already I have added about two octaves to my range that I never thought were possible for me. Compression helps me now, but where I sing in these higher notes literally sound that if I give them more attention in the ways that you teach they will sound strong and resonant. I feel so inspired. And, it is also good to know how much a voice must be protected. I learned that idea through guitar playing, and I am thankful that I got it soon enough for vocals. I have started thinking about music as similar to what a sports player might do. No sports player doesn't stretch before the big game, just as vocal warm ups are so important. I played so much that in high school I practiced 4 hours everyday to be able to play jazz, injuring myself, and trying to get back at it only to keep reinjuring myself until finally needing rehab because I was so bad that I couldn't even lift a coffee mug to drink.

Hey guys, I want to thank everyone for the really cool comments. I also want to encourage you with this: I did not start out as a great singer. I had to work very hard at it. Singing like this is not natural for me. Even to this very day I spend one to 1 1/2 hours per day in my warm-up trainings alone not including singing songs or all the teaching that I do. This caliber of singing only comes about with correct proper training. I cover this extensively in my singing course called how to sing better than anyone else. For anyone interested you can find it here. KenTamplinVocalAcademy.com

Regarding My How To Sing Like... Series: People say "I want to sound like me and not anyone else." And I say - Absolutely! No one should "clone" anyone. But we all have influences, and it is the sum of those influences, and how we "re-present" them with our own style that makes us great. Learning a difficult cover song where the bar is set high, is an excellent grading scale to see how well our technique is working. This is also true for learning different styles as this increases our vocabulary for diverse singing and helps us find our own unique voice. In my "How To Sing Like" videos, I still sound like Ken Tamplin, but seek to show you how to sing in their "style" safely. Check Out One Of My Original Songs Featuring Some Of My Singing Influences (singing both soft and heavy) Here: How To Sing Like David Coverdale - Glenn Hughes - Lou Gramm - Paul Rodgers When Choosing A Vocal Coach Or Singing Program, Make Sure The Coach Can Prove Their Technique With Their Own Voice & Their Students Voices Whether It's Cover Songs Or Originals. The Proof Is In The Singing.

Bear in mind that Ken is singing these songs live in the studio, Karaoke-style. He's not dubbing in, fixing mistakes, or using Auto-Tune. Ken is demonstrating his techniques, live and in-person, with the camera rolling. Some of Ken's competitors have been crying "foul" because Ken says that a vocal coach should be able to prove their own products with their own voices. Some competitors are presently in the studio, overdubbing, micro-editing, and auto-tuning away, making artificial "masterpieces" to then lip-sync to video and "prove" on KZread that they can sing, too. Don't be fooled by these fakes. Their live singing is embarrassingly bad, and their yes-men are afraid to tell them so. They are repeatedly trash-talking Ken publicly in their social media, and then claiming that Ken is being "unprofessional" by pointing out that their vocal methods don't seem to work on them. Is it "professional" to try to sell something that doesn't work on yourself? Why can't they teach themselves to sing better by using their own methods? In what "profession" is it a requirement to keep quiet about products that are ineffective on the seller? These "professional" coaches claim that Ken is showing students how to be nothing but clones of superstars and therefore un-original. Most students WANT and ASK to be able to sing similarly to their favorite artists, and and their own voice WILL create a Unique Individual Sound. Ken has over 40 ORIGINAL KEN TAMPLIN ALBUMS. These competitors have NONE. Ken is a fantastic singer, and he will show you how HE does it. Listen to Ken and listen to them. Listen a lot. You be the judge. The PROOF is in the SINGING

Listen to the end of the video. Ken Tamplin's left just the voice track. There you can hear how, being a baritone, he can even add a bit of distorsion to the chorus, using less reverb then M Matijevic, which is great cos this way the chorus sounds fuller. Everything Ken Tamplin says is TRUE. You CAN learn to sing almost anything with his method. It just takes time and effort. I' m having a shot at this song myself. I still have to improve a lot to sing it well but I'm able to hit all the high notes, which wasn't even thinkable for me before knowing about Ken Tamplin's course. Ken is the man. Don't waste your time with anyone else.

Is There Really Such Thing As "Stress Free Singing"? I see many vocal coaches (and their students) promoting the idea that "there should be no stress while singing" and therefore frustrating the heck out of singers who think there is "something wrong with themselves" because they can't, over night, achieved this "stress free" singing. (this also gives a vocal coach "tribal knowledge" to keep you coming back to them as the only one who has the answer to this elusive concept) This is nonsense and here's why: Singing is like a sport. And with any sport, it's not the absence of stress, it's the management of stress that makes a great athlete. Think of it like this: When Lionel Messi is going to goal, do you think his body is "stressed?" (Anyone who says it isn't has never played a sport before). But Lionel has learned the art of training his body and mind for that moment when it's time for him to step on the gas, take on 3 players and score what "looks" like an "effortless goal." But you can be assured, it was not done "without effort" or without "stress." Lionel achieved this through training his technical abilities as well as building stamina and muscle memory to achieve this consistency. Now it is true that some styles of singing require less stamina than others and therefore can be accomplished with less strength training. In other words, singing a light pop song requires very little "strength" in the sound whereas singing a heavy rock song often requires incredible strength and stamina. This is also true for those (like myself) that want to push their "limits" and abilities to be all they can be. This of course requires more "effort" and technical training. With that said, there are many stages to building this "stamina" and it's ok to "find yourself" as one first starts with "damaging street singing" (with total stress) and going through the different stages of learning how to manage this stress away form the voice through correct training. If I didn't show the different stages of this process, and only showed "perfection", people would never learn that these people are all human, having to work on their craft just like yourself.

BTW...I`m always have "traininng times" when I can and I`ve always nnoticed, just when I was in a Choir, (classes for about two or three hours) or, trying to teach, or sing with someone, or now by myself, that that is more or less the endurance time...not to feel the voice wrong...and begin commiting errors...XD And I`v also observed that , for instance Bruce Dickinson, Freddy Mercury, Amy Lee, Lzzy Hale..those greaat vocalists, their bands shows ,take that time for a maximum, two and a half hours, or a bit more... Is that the point of voice's correct use and the real good voice limit? Thanks a lot, hope you can answer !

Again thanks much, from the heart. Wow, I've had a call from my soul since I was a baby listening to my parents' records and radio choices to sing, but it was unconscious until after I had been playing instruments for a few years, starting age 8 with guitar. Short version is I quickly went from learning Rush songs to playing them live with a band when I was in my late teens, after studying bass for a few years following Steve Harris, Iron Maiden. Turn of Century I got an idea in my head that I couldn't sing like that, I'm a baritone. I lost singing to just mantras and chants, no songs for many years. Since 2012 I've been working to get my song craft back. Until I found your channel I didn't quite understand a few things. Following your lead, OMG, things opening I never thought I could do. I'm 48 now so I can't do Geddy Lee like I did as a teen without proper warm ups and all of it.
