How To Short-Circuit The Fear Of Rejection
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Do you ever feel like the fear of rejection is holding you back?...
Discover The 4 Emotions You Need To Make a Killer First Impression: bit.ly/2C43VD8
Like maybe there's someone that you would have really liked to ask out, someone that you've had your eye on for a long time, but when you think about asking them out you think about them maybe saying no. Rejecting you. So you don't even want to try. Or maybe you're an artist of some kind and you'd like to share your art, you'd like to publish it, you'd like to maybe even pursue it as a career... for me, this was writing.
But, when you think about being criticized or rejected for that art, you don't even want to throw your hat in the ring. If that's something that you can relate to, the good news is that you don't have to continue to relate to it because there's people in the world that are basically immune to rejection!
They don't feel it in the same way that you might, and they don't fear it. And the only difference between them and someone who has issues with rejection that were kind of fears it is the way that they perceive it in their mind and that's what we're covering today.
How can you make those quick little rejection tweaks? They're gonna make rejection kind of feel like something that just rolls off your back like nothing at all!
Rejection Mindsets and Strategies:
0:57 Think of a time that you have been rejected exercise.
1:15 Disassociate yourself from the rejection.
2:44 Broaden your perspective and goals of being rejected.
4:20 Success is a numbers game (roll the dice).
5:50 STOP using the word "Rejection"

This is a great perspective. You consistently shed light on the not-quite-obvious truth. As a perfectionist, I have stifled myself artistically for years, never wanting to do anything for fear that it wouldn't meet my high self-standards. I've recently begun attempting to create one thing (drawing, poem, song, video, story) per day and show it to someone, even if it isn't my best work. A friend of mine once said "If you try to be great, you probably won't even be good, but if you try to be good, you'll probably be great." So I'm trying earnestly to be good.
I've been dealing with rejection from familly... It's hard enough when outsiders reject you, but to have your own blood reject you.. that's what really hurt.. followed by rejection from the church and my in laws... I just want to say thank you.. for the first time in weeks I feel a sense of hope again.. It's hard for me to disaccociate myself naturally because i wa taught otherwise.. but you're right.. that rejection word is tied to our sense of self worth. I am worthy.. And I'll keep going ... because i am good enough... thank you mr. Charisma =)

Yeah, how to never be rejected - erase the term "rejection" from your mind. Then you can be turned down, you can fail, but never be "rejected". The only advice I think is right: eventually you will succeed. Don't fear failures, because they are a natural path to success.
You can't control outside forces but you can control the meaning you give to them.
I was a guy that would never get rejected wouldn't fear anything but I've had three rejections in a row and then dated a girl who simultaneously had a boyfriend and lied to me.It's been a bumpy road I had crazy amounts of confidence but now I just don't feel it in me.

Love the "roll the dice" strategy. It's the perfect antidote to the impulse to stop trying that rejection can sometimes cause. Thanks for all your well thought-out and practical advice!
I think one of the most important things to consider before taking that risk and asking the girl out or going for that job or whatever, is that you want to be able to say "oh well" not "what if?" You don't want to have to look back at a point in your life and lament the fact that you let the fear of rejection hold you back, because you'll have those times where you want to strangle your past self for being such a chicken but theres nothing you can do about it, whats done is done, better to be able to say "oh well, at least I tried" and thats only assuming that you DO get rejected.

I've been way too scared to really reach out to people and ask for advice. It really was the fear of being "rejected" because I always felt like I was never good enough to even talk to people. Thank you for your advice!!

Amazed at how you can give such insightful advices and clear delivery, identify the common problems that shy people and introverts always have. You are just like a life coach! Hats off to u!
Good point about viewing rejection as thinking too small/narrowly
Fully agree. I used to have absolutely no ability to approach women. Now, I'm still learning, but it's exactly like he said - don't focus on rejection, focus on understanding what does and doesn't work, and - improve. Think constantly, try to get better, and you will. You don't even need anyone's tutoring - learn from other people's experiences, but think for yourself. Eventually you'll find out what approach works for you best. Just by thinking that way, you'll be miles ahead from where you were before.
I know she would say yes, because I know she has a crush on me. I'm not afraid of being rejected, but I'm still afraid of asking. Why?
@Karak971
7 жыл бұрын
You may still be worried about rejection, irrationally in this case, because of your mindset or how you view yourself. If you know that's she's crushing then go for it, I was in your situation and didn't do it and I regretted it for a long while.
@DevilsInferno1
7 жыл бұрын
Akrak is right. Instead of pondering why, because to be honest you'll never fully know, my advice would be to eliminate anything that is getting in your way - any negative thoughts, any thing you have doubts about, and then go all-in because then even if you get "rejected", as this video just explained if you go in with the mindset of learning it's not really a "rejection". My idea of going all-in would include the mindset but also for example if I doubted my clothes I would wear nice clothes; if I doubted what I was going to say, I would have a think and practice; if I doubted my hair-style I would focus on changing it - HOWEVER, if I had doubts about getting rejected I would also prepare for that. I would say "haha, that's fine, but just for future reference can you please tell me why not?" If you go all-in, you will have no regrets. Just don't change your personality - you are who you are.

Thanks for the video! Once again, I'm impressed how you manage to take the essence out of a really broad subject and break your advice down to a few bullet points, while staying authentic and sincere
Hey Charlie, love your channel and videos! I think what you said in the video is very true, and I would like to relate an important thought. People often judge themselves by results. Doing so is a mistake, since one has control merely over his actions and not over their consequences. As you said, you roll the dice - the score is beyond you. Hence, focusing on the process and whether you were true to yourself in your actions, instead of on the outcome, is key to handling an undesired result and moving forward unaffectes.

Great advice for constantly improving yourself! I also saw an improvment in the way you sharing your thougts in the recent videos Keep up the great work
I love how specific you are in your explanations. From time to time I am afraid of "rejection" but over the years I have learned that, we only live once, so we need to be the best us that we can be, and try to live without regret. Later on in life there will be things we regret not doing, all simply because we were afraid of being "rejected". Because what's more important? Being rejected or being yourself and taking chances on things like asking someone out that you like, or going after a job? Always be yourself and take some chances. This video reminded me of that because recently I've been too afraid to ask out a guy that I am quite smitten with. Thank you for another great life experience video.
Every time I need encouragement or inspiration, I watch your videos☺️ Thank you for making me a better person.
I´m loving your channel... I´ve already shared it with my friends and colleagues.
Ya you can learn from rejection. Learn not to try again.
Your presentation has such a natural and humble vibe to it, unlike most KZreadrs who are so arrogant and self-righteous when talking about self-growth. Although inherently everybody knows that they're not the only ones with these kind of struggles it's still good to hear your own experiences and how you've learnt to overcome them. You really give a strong positive impression in the sense that you actually want to help people overcome their fears and grow and don't just do this to get famous or for the money. Good work man, keep it up, I love watching your vids even though I know a lot of it already but it's encouraging to hear it again nonetheless :)

I never thought of life as a dice game, and I can feel that it's already changing the way I think of things. Thank you!
Hey, great video. This comment is the my first step. I'm attempting to write in english basically everywhere, as a non speaker, to one day publish what I already do in my language Took me time...

“You say ‘she rejected me,’ ‘he rejected me,’ ‘that company rejected me,’ and you are implying that they looked you dead in the eye as a whole person and said-“ *Reeses* *Eggs* are *Back* *Baby*
I have subscribed to this channel. I have learnt things that were helpful I suffer a lifetime of being paralysed by my fear of rejection. Numerous examples im not going to write here but all I will say to you is you're doing a helpful thing for mental-cripples like me!
As an artist, I love every time you give a shout out to artists!!!!

Getting rid of the word "rejection" easier said than done, still, the best advice I've heard over the years.👍
You are a GREAT teacher, you are teaching me to be fearless. Thank you.

I don't usually comment on videos, but these that you have put out are really interesting. It has helped me see that it's more than just not being shy--which I am. I never knew there was so much associated with confidence; this particular video on rejection was very insightful, thank you for all you are doing for people like me who have difficulty in the social area of life.
I've watched a lot of your vids mate but I genuinely think this is one of the best you've done. Only 3.5 years late. Cheers
