HOW TO SHAVE YOUR FACE (DERMAPLANING)....AND WHY YOU SHOULD

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

People laugh when I tell them I shave my face...I think they have visions of me with a face full of shaving cream and a full blown razor....but in fact shaving the face or dermaplaning as it's professionally called has many benefits and I'll get you all trying it by the end of this video.

CONTACT LENSES
I sometimes wear contact lenses in my videos. My eyes are naturally browny/orange, but I like to switch things up with green/blue/grey contacts. Recently I was sent some coloured contacts from a company called TTDEYE who deal with both cosmetic and prescription lenses. I LOVE THEM!!!!
If you want to try them go to ttdeye.com and use the code pamperedwolf10 for a 10% discount. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE A VALID PRESCRIPTION for the prescription lenses AND ALWAYS GET THE LENS FIT CHECKED BY A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL. I have my eyes checked every few months by my optician and have a sight test every 2 years. You can’t be too careful when it comes to your sight.
FURTHER INFORMATION
My skin type is combi/dry most of the month, but when hormonal, my skin gets very oily around my t-zone. It's very unpredictable (thanks skin) and I suffer from breakouts (mostly hormonal breakouts...thanks again hormones!)

Thank you Gemma! I purchased a derma-planer a couple weeks ago. The instructions are not as thorough as the visual you demonstrated. I found it interesting that it allows skin care products to have better absorption. It also explains why I noticed an improvement in my skin’s condition and better makeup coverage.

I do it at home every 2-4 weeks or when I see mineral sunscreen or foundatuon clinging to little hairs. I'd love to have it done professionally and will treat myself when things open up! *Many men do it daily (not with a surgical sharp blade), and that soft baby skin is👍)

I do this to remove light peach fuzz onmy face- used to use a depilatory cream every so often , but it burned and left my skin irritated...my Mom would be appalled if she were still here, as she thought shaving, even on the legs made your hair thicker and darker!! But, it absolutely doesn’t...I have brown hair but blond fuzz, and I just use a small razor maybe once a week, and it does the trick. Yes, Gemma, it does make your makeup look so much better, too! thank you for this video☺️💕‼️

I have been feeling kind of low about it and assuming my genealogy was to blame. My peach fuzz is only crazy on my cheeks and jawline. My mustache and chin are wiry hair that needs to be plucked. Will have to give that device a try. Thanks so much Gemma. 💗

I do this but I have used an eyebrow blade to do it (though the one I use states it’s a facial / eyebrow blade and cones with two spare heads. Looks like a straight razor from the barber. Works like a treat though I did cut myself in two places last time (for the first time)... so I believe you when it’s easy to cut yourself on what appears to be not the sharpest of blade. I will look out for the Nair one though we have different products in Australia. Thanks for showing the correct way to do it.

I am so glad you showed us how to do dermaplaning. My very first time I ever tried and for a beginner loving the results. My Target was out of a larger tool Veet product, but I bought a Finishing Touch Dermaplaner and eyebrow dermaplaner - package of 3 for 3.99. I used the little cheap one on my face and neck area. Got rid of the fuzz and dead skin cells. I then applied my serum and sensitive skin cream on top and as you said it was SMOOTH and actually soaked in. Like a babys bottom - smooth. Will try the finishing touch next time. My Target did not have the Veet tool you used...I forgot what you said about frequency for this??? Once a week too much??

Just be careful use the right tool and your skin will look and feel amazing 😉 I read it can be done once a week or depending on your own hair growth. For me that seems to be about 2 weeks. But the hair on our face grows in deferent speeds so some areas may need it less than others. Thanks for sharing this new video! I watched your old one recently and yes it’s still available ❤️

Hi Gemma, it says to put the oil on before you use the veet? You didn’t do that, is it better not too? Don’t want to get it wrong as I’m a bit nervous about doing this🥴😊

If you do this in the morning, should you refrain from putting on any makeup or can you go right in with makeup?

Hi Gemma, how soon should I do this before a special event like a wedding…worried if I do it too close to the event it may affect my skin before the big day?

Last year I purchased a derma planer with the battery operated vibration. The vibrating caused me to give myself a nasty nick right between my brows. :-( I jokingly referred to it as my Harry Potter scar. :-/ I was also a bit paranoid that I would lop off a chunk of eyebrow using the blade so I bought the Flawless Finish hair remover that looks like a lipstick tube. I can go to town with it and not worry about cutting my skin and it leaves my skin so smooth. Makeup and skincare go on so easily and smoothly! I love it! I'm not sure how much exfoliation it does but I'll use my glycolic acid products for that, (not on the say day of course!) :-D

I am very fair but started to shave a bit around my mouth and the peach fuzz of old lady hair. No problem. Over 5 yrs, I'm over 50. Regular lady shaver.. but I only use this one on my face. .. gently. about once a fortnight.

I'm a bit late to this video but just came across it. After many years of plucking the rogue hairs that appear on chin and corners of top lip (I'm late 60s) I had been too scared to remove my facial fuzz for the reasons you said. I had several of the eyebrow shapers doing nothing so took a deep breath and dived in during lockdown. How satisfying was it to collect that ball of fluff?? I kick myself for not doing it sooner. Not much regrowth to speak off, even after several weeks there wasn't anywhere near as much fuzz on my face. I now aim to do it about every couple of months. If you're scared give it a go. I certainly don't regret it. Skin feels amazing and looks fresh too.

I do it regularly but I use some Cerave lotion first. I have very dry skin and without something on my skin it gets sore.

Hi is it safe to do while on tretinoin? Or do we need to stop the retinol for any amount of time before dermaplaning? I just started Differen and not sure what to do. Thank you so much!

I used to remove face fuzz with Veet hair removal cream, and it made my poor skin red and inflamed. I decided to shave and it was quicker, and my skin was smooth and the hair seems to grow back slower for some reason.

I'm lucky ☺ enough to have good skin, and anything that helps keep it good, is a bonus, peach fuzz is not for me, I use the facial hair remover from JML, that is shaped like a lipstick case, pop a battery in, and use small circular movements, peach fuzz gone, getting it done with a blade at a salon would freek me OUT😲

I have been shaving my face for years. No “black hair” growth, that’s an old wife’s tale. I love how my makeup goes on and seems to stay on longer with a fresh shave because I have gotten rid of all the dead skin!

Thank you for doing this video! This is a method I’d love to try. The only kits I previously knew about were well over $100 dollars US. I only occasionally use a cream hair remover which I dislike very much. The Veet you’re demonstrating is so affordable! I’d love to use your link to purchase but it doesn’t work for me.

Thanks for this video, Gemma! I’ve been curious about dermablading for awhile now. Do you moisturize your face prior to the procedure, or just wash and start on dry skin?

,I've been doing this for a long time with the three packs of facial razors I buy (I think the last lot were from Wilkinson sword) as my normal Korean ones would take ages to arrive. I have super sensitive skin and am actually shaping my brows with them as I can't get threading done, but it takes a steady hand and patience as I don't want to take the whole brow off. It's only because I've been doing it so long I'm tackling my brows. I just can't pluck as my eyes stream with water (hence the professionally done brows for years). I find removing the peach fluff makes makeup sit better as well as helping skincare absorb. I may have a look at the tool .as it's wasteful having the plastic handles of the disposable razors. Best wishes

Hi, so I’m trying to build up the courage to have a go at this, I’m also waiting on my first Dermatica “prescription” (you’re costing me a ton of money 😂) but I was wondering - do you still use your tretinoin the same night you do your dermaplaning? Ta muchly! 😁

I personally don't, but if this is something that you suffer with, then try shaving with the grain rather than against it. This can help xxx
