How to sharpen a pencil - sharpening tips for greenwoodworkers

There is no other correct way to sharpen a pencil - convince me otherwise.
You will need:
~ An Albrecht Dürer watercolour pencil from Faber Castel. This is the only correct pencil for greenwood marking.
~ A shaving-sharp carving axe, wide cutting edge preferable.
~ A chopping block - solid and heavy with thick tripod legs preferable.
Hope this helps!!

I have a phobia of sharpening a pencil with anything other than a pencil sharpener. Figure that.

@@jones_trees_and_treen the axe handle has a unique finish on it. I often saw the same hue on old windsor chairs. What is it called? Thanks. How do you like the Granfors Bruks carving axe?

It's my favourite axe! The handle has some milk paint splashed on it and most of it wore off. You're right that milk paint is the traditional finish on Windsor chairs.
