How to Share Your Screen in Zoom

This video shows how to share your screen in a Zoom meeting. It also shows what your meeting participants will see while you're sharing your screen, and goes over different options like how to share your entire screen vs. sharing individual windows. It's part of my playlist of Zoom tutorials that you can find here: • Zoom Tutorials

Very helpful, appreciated explanation of the difference between sharing screen and sharing doc. Wondered why participants couldn't see what I was seeing, so I kept pausing to switch between screen with QBO and an excel doc. Thank you!

Thank you SO MUCH. I spent all afternoon trying to find out how to do this, since I will be doing tech hosting for a two-person interview. I will share this video with the person who wants me to set things up this way, and we'll be able to discuss options.

Great instruction. Please consider Z. share screen training video that requires importing Sharepoint links into One Drive. From One Drive to Z. screen share. Txs.

You made it easy to understand. I am guessing common sense would at least get you started but real knowledge is power! LOL! I plan to use these features very soon in my Zoom meetings and I will teach my stubborn wife how to use these features as well. Thanks so much for sharing your Zoom knowledge!

Great video ! You may answer this in another video, but I'm wondering if the white board can become interactive with other participants. I'm tutoring English and would like my student to be able to write on it as well. Thanks!

Yes, as the host you can enable or disable "annotations" which allow other people to write on the whiteboard (I can't remember off the top of my head if you can change this in the in-meeting settings, but if so it's in the menu somewhere)

Thanks for amazing video sir. I want to know while I am sharing some presentation to my audience can I spotlight two persons on the screen. My target is to show the ppt and two people taking to each other which can be seen to other audience too.

Short answer: yes you can do it. Long answer: I wasn't sure so I had to test this and figured I might as well make a video about it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/io2epc9tlZbZcpM.html

How did you record this video, did you use the recording on zoom or you used another software? Because it looks scrips and clean NOT blurred.

I use Camtasia, which is a screen recorder/video editing program, but it's expensive (over $200): kzread.info/dash/bejne/amec0JitnL24eaQ.html. OBS Studio seems to be a very popular free screen recorder and there are tons of tutorials for it on KZread, but it isn't a video editor, so you'd need a separate editing program.

when you share a screen, will your face in a small box be on the top right of the screen. Or will the shared screen be the only thing the participant will see?

Ben: I am sharing an image, areas of which I am able to move my cursor to (point to) and I want other participants to also be able to direct their cursors to areas of the image as well to facilitate communication. Is there a way to do this? It seems that all participants would either: (1) need to have and be sharing the same image simultaneously and toggling between participants or (2) coordinating stop and start sharing if they were not sharing simultaneously. Is that correct or are there other options for this? Thanks, Gerald

Gerald - hmm. So to clarify, you want all participants to be able to see each other's cursors simultaneously? I would look into Zoom's whiteboard feature which allows annotation by multiple participants at once (assuming you have it enabled, I think it is turned out by default to prevent people from doodling on your slides). I have a video about it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i6inttutf8aohtY.html but Zoom has recently updated the tool, you can read more about it here: blog.zoom.us/zoom-digital-whiteboard-collaboration/

Are you able to select multiple windows at once for sharing purposes? Or what gives the host the ability to switch between shared windows?

How can I make the floating video same as participants view when sharing my screen? The floating video is blocking my view to the slide show but it's necessary to see my participants reaction when presenting.

Hi Eddy - not totally sure what you mean by "make the floating video same as participants view when sharing my screen." If you are referring to side by side mode, that is only available when someone ELSE is sharing their screen, not when you are doing it yourself: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z6yC0c9wg5bMltY.html. If you are screen sharing and want to see everyone then dual monitors is probably your best option: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6qjuq-MpNK0k9o.html

Hi Pamela - "share content" is so you can share FILES with people, as opposed to what you see on your screen.

Hi, Thanks for the video. I have been told that when I share my screen, the others see the video panel from my screen, but as a grey rectangle, where my video panel is on my screen. Is there a way to do side-by-side as a host, while I'm sharing my screen?

  • @BenFinio

Hi Andrew - if you are sharing a Powerpoint, Zoom has a new "use Powerpoint as virtual background" (under "Advanced" when you share your screen) that might solve this problem, but I'm not sure. Another option if you have a second monitor available is to connect that and drag the video panel off to the second monitor so it isn't in the way. Finally if you go to Settings->Share Screen there is a "Show Zoom windows during screen share" checkbox - so if you uncheck that, it might get rid of it (the latter is probably the simplest solution, I would try that first).

@@BenFinio Thank you. follow up question, is there a way to have the video panel side by side with the Powerpoint, while I'm sharing my screen, but people would only be able to see the Powerpoint?

  • @BenFinio

    @BenFinio

@@ongme1 Unfortunately not that I'm aware of. Side by side mode is only available when someone else is sharing their screen, not when you're sharing your own. Again your best option there is probably two monitors if possible. Then you can have the gallery view on one and your Powerpoint on the other. I have a video about side by side mode here that helps explain it more: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z6yC0c9wg5bMltY.html

Hi Joseph - I'm not sure what you're asking. If you watch this video it will show you how to share your screen. If you are on a Zoom call with other people, it does not matter where they are in the world, they will still see your screen.

yes, if you watch the video you will see starting around 2:00 how you still see the other participants in a little floating window you can drag around. The number of people you can see there is limited, if you want to see everyone in gallery view you need to use two monitors: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6qjuq-MpNK0k9o.html
