Please remember to launch the game using your own user profile (1:17) when you first launch the game! (Oinkus will launch the game on her console using her own profile, Stinker's account is simply logged in as a primary console to allow Oinkus who don't own the game to play). This is so that you will keep your progress if you wish to transfer the game ownership back in the future. The first user who launches the game will forever be the Resident Representative of the island which is tied to the console. This cannot be changed unless you reset the whole island. Note: Please be aware that you should only game share with someone you trust as they will have access to your Nintendo Switch account!!

Let's say I want to buy a few digital games such as AC, Pokemon, and Zelda, and she wants to buy separate games, such as some Mario games, how would we make sure the games we purchased had the person who purchased it as the primary owner? And how exactly do we go about sharing them? I understand deregistering, but how would we return the game's primary account holder to the other switch, so that the owner is the primary owner for only their games?

thanks for this video! I have some questions on this method. My sister’s switch is where I originally bought animal crossing. And her switch was the primary console. My profile was on her switch already. me and her were both able to play AC without me having to pay on my console. (Your method) I later bought the expansion pack for my switch lite so i can have the DLC: happy home paradise. The shop kept saying i have the membership but not the content (animal crossing nh) downloaded on my switch, which i was confused by. When i deregistered her switch, and made my the primary console, it gave me my DLC on my lite. Thats great! But, it said she doesnt have AC on her switch anymore. Im so confused 😭i just want us to use your method and me be able to have the DLC. What do you suggest i do? I rather not pay for the game again her switch.

does this work the same where you share 1 physical cartridges with 2 switches?

What will happen if you change the primary back to secondary and vice versa? I tried this and it's been going great so far but there's another game that the other person owns that I can't play now (even on his switch).

I have to warn everyone if you have one digital copy you cannot play local together. The other person must have a 2nd copy of the game in order to play local. It still works if you try using "online play" but it won't work with local player because again the other person doesn't have a 2nd copy of the game.

Start the eshop on your new switch with your account you used to buy the game. Then download it and you can play it.

pointers: 1. a deregistered switch can only play the profile that is used to buy the game. 2. a registered switch can redownload the game and can play all the profiles without internet connection. This will allow other profiles from this switch to create a new island. All profiles can play but can only share the same island. 3. One switch one island policy. 4. in order to play together via online play: 1 device must be registered (can play without connection) must use the new profile with new island with nintendo subs. the other switch should use the profile used to purchase the game with nintendo online subs.

Love your videos and channel! Quick question: I’m a dad gamer, with 3 kids. We’ve had a switch since launch, but I just bought two switch lites for my other kids. Now all 3 kids will have a switch. My plan is to buy one digital game (Animal Crossing of course) to share and buy one Nintendo Online Family Subscription. Hey, thanks for the kind words! It's not possible to share the game between three consoles AND play simultaneously at the same time. This is because two secondary console cannot launch the game simultaneously as it connects to the Internet to check if the game owner's profile is currently playing the game. The reason you can share between two Switches is because the Primary console does not need to do this and any user profile can launch the game when it is the game owner's Primary console. I would advice that you buy an additional game copy. Additionally, make sure that when you first launch the game on the 3 Switches, you are playing on 3 separate user profiles that you want to be the owner of the island.

GameRecer V1 you will have your own island, and can play on each other’s island assuming you both have a Switch Online Membership

What if you sign up for family account? Could you both play together? What's the family account for?

You will have the same island. The island is safed on your console. To get another island you will need to delete your current island or buy a whole new switch system.

No you won't, the savefile will stay on your nswitch even if you delete the game.

It should we have a family online plan, and unfortunately I purchased the physical cartridge twice (my previous incorrect understanding was that game sharing was not possible in that both users couldn’t play the game at the same time).

Next question, I know that all three cannot share the game at the same time. Hey could you help me figure this out? So my Girlfriend got a Switch and Animal crossing. She made her island and what not. She then also made me a character to be on her island as well. I have ny house there and everything. If i were to buy a second switch and a second copy of Animal crossing, could i still play using my own character? I have already progressed it and have my new house built. Only thing is i would love to play together walking around the island instead of taking turns. Do you know what i mean? Would this work? I get what you mean! A new island and a new set of characters are created for every new Switch. This means that your character cannot own a house on her island and yet own a house on your own island. It sucks but it is just what it is.

Assuming your little sister is the one who owns the game, she must now login into your Switch and set yours as the primary console. You must now launch the game using your own user profile and you DO NOT require an internet connection to play. In this case your little sister is the one who require an internet to launch the game.

Hello! You cannot play at the same time if you are using a physical copy of the game. But you can definitely take turns to play with the physical copy and decide from there if getting another copy of the game is what you want. No matter the scenario, it is better to create your own account, in case you decide to get another copy of the game. If you both use the same account to play on 2 Switches and later down the road you decide you want to play online together, you wouldn’t be able to unless you delete one of the islands. Hello! You're welcome. The limitation is that you can only play the game when the cartridge is inserted, hence you can't play together simultaneously between two Switches. However, you can play couch co-op with your family. Couch co-op is where all your family live on one island, with the player that first launched the game being the 'Resident Representative' of the island. Whether you should get another ACNH would depend on your family's playstyle. Do you all want to share the same island? Or would everyone want to own their island?

@@nanalita8185save file is saved on the SD card and not on the cartridge. so switching ard the cartridge to a new switch would only mean a new game file is created on the SD card of the new switch.

If she adds your account as secondary, she will have to launch the game using your user profile. Your progress is safe but you guys will not be able to play together. The owner of the island will also be your user profile and switching it is not possible without losing progress. She does not need an online subscription.

Hello! You can play together on seperate Switches on one island by using online play, but the experience won’t be the same as couch coop as you can’t own a house on the same island using online play.

Since your sister owns the game she has to launch the game using her own profile on her switch, and your switch has to be her primary console so you can launch the game using your own profile. So nope.

So if the second switch has online, it can visit other islands (other than the owner of the digital copy) to sell turnips and stuff?

The save data is saved in the console's memory, not the cartridge. So that's not possible! (As of now)

Nothing has changed in game sharing as far as we know. Make sure to launch the eshop using the user profile who owns the game.

You can simply launch the game using a second profile. A second profile can be easily created without an email. Playing at the same time using the same profile is not possible if you are using the same copy of the game. Let us know if you require more assistance! (:

To add on, the secondary profile should ideally be created on your switch lite. So the switch lite will have two users, your main account which owns the game and this secondary profile. Make the switch lite your primary console of the main account so it doesn’t require an internet connection when you play outside. Launch the game on your switch lite using your secondary profile and you can also launch the game using your switch after going through an online authentication.

*TRICK* you can sign into both switches as the same user and share the game on both and play at the same time. Step one sign into both switches. Next make sure both switches have the game desired to share downloaded. Step 3. Make sure the primary user starts up animal crossing while using WiFi; this user must turn on airplane mode after animal crossing is loaded up and you are able to walk around. Once you turn on airplane mode the other user is safe to turn on their animal crossing game on but a message will appear, “checking if game is available” when this message appears this user must turn on airplane mode quickly (within 4 seconds) to bypass that screen then BOOM it works. Your welcome..

I don’t want to have to buy a whole new copy of ACNH just to transfer stuff between islands and be able to visit my old island while using the same Nintendo account.

It seems you cant play the same time on two switches on the same email...and my friend is using a different email on my main switch but he doesn't have the option to make his own island...he shown Up on my island we can play together...so it seems to able to play same time is to buy the game twice

You can use the same game to play together. You just need to use a different user profile (which is tagged to a different email anyway). This is why in the video we mentioned that you need two Nintendo Switch Online Membership, not one.

Thank you for the info! Just 1 question.. Me and my sister both have our own switches, and she shared the game with me. Can we still play at the same time if we don’t visit each other’s island? like play separately at the same time?? I would appreciate if someone could reply.

Zooba Vision yes you can play seperately at the same time, you can even visit each other if you want to. Just make sure that you follow the steps in the video!

Ok so I have AC on my switch and buying my gf a switch tomorrow. Does she have to play under my profile on her switch? Or can she play on her own profile

She should only launch the game on her own profile, this is so that she is the Resident Representative (owner) of the island that she creates. This will also allow her to visit your island and play together. Your account just needs to be logged in as a primary console on her Switch. Hope that helps and have fun!

I have a question. Is there a risk for saved data loss while doing this? I mean what if the second switch (on the right) plays animal crossing with the primary account (stinker), what will happen to the saved data?

Hello, thankyou so much for this! It worked a treat for us 😊 I have 1 question though! So the digital game was purchased on my console through my profile which was the primary console, and I have followed your tutorial to put the game onto my cousins console, so now my console is the secondary console and my cousins is the primary console! All working fine and great, however before doing all this on my console my partner played on my island for a bit and has a tent on it which he dosent want now, I can only remove his profile on my island if I launch the game under his profile, but because my console is now registered as the secondary console it won't allow anyone to play the game apart from me as I purchased the game! Will it work if I switch my console back to primary, launch the game on his profile and delete his save, then once done change my cousins console back to primary? Scared to do this and ruin my cousins save as he has got far on his island now. Thank you so much 😊

No problem! Have you tried going into the game's setting and deleting your partner's save data? You can access this menu by pressing the '-' button at the Animal Crossing homescreen.

Hello, yes tried that but Tom nook needs to speak to the islander himself, meaning his save data can only be delete whilst on his profile, not mine even though I'm the representative

@@ryanwilliamson5363 Ah I see. Anyway to answer your question, I have not tried it myself, but I would say it is highly unlikely to ruin your cousin save data.
