Shelly, thank you for you detailed video on sewing a T-shirt blanket. I had never quoted anything before, so I was looking for a very easy " beginner" quilt. I had saved t-shirts for about 25 years from my 3 kids. I finally decided to attempt the feat of making their blankets. It was so easy following your video. I easily made all three quilts and then made another one for my niece using some pictures for her memory quilt. Now I have had two friends want me to make one for them. I've been putting off making my daughter a blanket for so many years because I'm afraid that I am going to ruin her beloved childhood shirts. However, after watching this I feel much more confident about jumping right in and doing it, so thank you very much for your easy to follow tutorial. I'm sure that I'm going to watch this a least 2 more times before I cut the material, and then maybe 3 more times before I begin sewing 🤣. Thank you so very much. I have seen for 46 years but never have seen on T-shirts. I have been asked to sew 3 t-shirt quilts using shirts from their father who has passed. When I tried my first stitch the stitch width was all over the place. I pulled up this video and one about how to use the serge stitch on t-shirts and they were a godsend. I didn’t even know their was special needles for knots. Now I’m all set and looking forward to making them.

Great video! Thank you for taking the time to make it and share it. I have one question regarding your opinion about fusible interfacing on the back of each square. Why do you not use any like some other quilters? Does it change the “comfort” of the finished blanket? Thank you!

Thank you for the helpful instructions. You didn’t talk about the pins that you placed in certain areas before you sewed around the sides. You said that you took your shoes off and pinned certain areas. Do you cross stitch each square on the front so that the quilt is stable?

Great instructions! Thank you! If each square, once sewn into rows, is now 12” and there are 5 per row, that’s 60” wide in each row, correct? How did you fit the width of the quilt on 58” wide fleece? Or do the tshirts sorta shrink up once sewn together?

Really enjoyed the tutorial. I have basic sewing skills and think I could actually manage this type of project. You mentioned that a ball point needle would be needed to manage the knit fabric. What size needle would you recommend? Also, can you share the stitch setting/length you chose for this project? Was it the same for every step? Thanks much!

Nice video but I do add one step by adding interfacing..it just makes doing the tshirts so so much better I don’t like the way the stretch is in t-shirts..
