Bias binding to neckline.(No Top-stitch)
The white strip is just a "PP strap". (04:52)
This is in order not to slide while sewing (sewing gap).
When the thickness of the fabric is different, the pressure of the presser foot and the feed dog are not stable.
Putting this tape means adding the height, this is very useful.
The pink tape is made of urethane foam with a sticky surface. (04:32)
It is very useful as a guideline for stitching. We buy them in a kind of professional shop in Japan. The information of this shop is secret.
1 needle sewing machine : DDL-5550N JUKI

I have been doing this forever but never could get it this perfect. Now I see the secrets behind her beautiful stitch in the ditch. First she is extremely precise in every step. Her use of the stiletto helps this. Exact seam trimming and a good center crease in the bias tape are essential. Then note how she maneuvers the back of the bias tape into a precise position. The real secret is her final pressing where she presses the tape over just a bit to cover the stitching line. Very well done!

Yes!!! I’ve also never gotten it so perfect. I never trust the underside. This sewist’s maneuvering of the back is the key! Brilliant, generous, and enlightening!❤️

I wish I had the words to describe how beautiful this process was to watch. My hope is that you continue to have good health and love what you do in the hopes you will continue to share with others. Continue success in every way! 🙏🏼👏🏼🌺😊😔
For anyone interested in this technique, it's called "stitch in the ditch" and is used often to secure binding from the right-side without it being seen. As I mentioned in another comment, the pointed tool she uses to adjust the fabric under the foot is a "sewing stiletto". and pink guide the fabric glides along is a seam guide. I don't know how this one attaches but the most common one is magnetic, aka a "magnetic seam guide".

What is that white strip she keeps putting under the presser foot? What is it for?
@stacey738
4 жыл бұрын
@@solihinusman I actually don't know for sure. I think it's used to raise the back of the foot and increase the surface area of the foot at the beginning of the seam. Sometimes when you start a seam so the back of the foot is off the fabric and front is on, or the fabric is small or to one side, the foot can slip to the side or to the back because the fabric underneath is not all one thickness. This increases the surface area and allows the foot to ride forward smoothly at the beginning. She also uses it at the end of the seam at 7:22 when the foot is uneven in the opposite direction (all the fabric at the back) to improve the control while back-stitching at the end without the foot sliding around.

Sol Usman it’s a bit of packing strap. They mention using it in comments on another video.

You can also use a plastic card. An old bank card or loyalty card will also help. She is pushing the edge of the bias out of the way and the tape helps hold it away from the needle. 😊
Coming from a Japanese family from my dad’s side and had lived and worked in Japan, I’m still amazed about this meticulous and perfect work! Domo arigato gozai imashita ! 🇺🇸🇧🇷✂️
We never too old to learn something new. Very talented lady demonstrating.
I could watch talented people sew all day.
I’ve been doing this forever too, but her precision and patience are remarkable!
"Stitch in the Ditch" technique - Flawless execution!
My respect for this lady! She is so precise and careful. This is why she gets such a perfect work!
Thank you for sharing your sewing skills with us. It makes an old lady like me feel useful when I am able to sew dresses for my granddaughter's dolls!
In my experience, this level of precision is easier on an industrial machine like she is using. It just feeds so much more smoothly and can get much closer to the edges without eating up the delicate fabric like home machines can

True as a retired seamstress /tailoress who still sees at home yes the difference using a industrial sewing machine is amazing especially if it's just a strait stitch machine not a zig zag i make tiny underwear for Barbies only possible with strait stitch only needle plate vintage Singer as it does stitches much smaller than modern ones

Note to self, get commercial/industrial machine - got it! After test driving so many home machines, I think you're right. My mate learned on a commercial Juki (in prison) and he's constantly complaining about the foot pedal because he had a knee knocker and that his home sewing machine feels slower and less precise! I think your on to something! Cheers
Сколько надо приложить усилий , чтобы добиться совершенства. Умница и трудяга!!!я в восхищении от такого усердия и любви к тому, что человек делает!!!👍👍👍
I truly admire your skill, your talent, your craftsmanship, and your process!!! Such an inspiration. Perfection!!
As a novice seamstress, this was the most mind blowing thing I have ever seen. I always wondered how this was possible and always tried to figure out a way to not have a top stitch on my own. I feel like I just leveled up hehe. Thank you so much!
いつも素晴らしいプロの技を見せていただきありがとうございます。しつけもなしに曲線を縫うなんて、素人の私にはとても怖くてできません!笑 本当にお見事です👏
Wow- learned several new things again. I have been seeing for over 30 years and have never heard about a sewing stiletto. I also just use the marks on my machine as sewing guide. Ordered myself a stiletto and magnetic seam guides.
What a talented teacher! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Regards from Westchester County, in NY State.
It's not just "stitch in the ditch", it's a whole technique. I love the tools she uses. And, of course, sewing linen fabric is always a pleasure. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge.

I saw this video a couple of years ago, and I still find it fascinating today. ❤
i've been doing this for years but i still couldnt get the perfect seam as their work... its really hard to adjust the biastape on the back seam (sometimes it will move everywhere) but they do this precisely... im amazed!

I usually iron it down and baste/pin it before the final stitching step. Really important to trim it uniformly too (4:00 in video) so the fold is the same distance all the way around. Sometimes I just stitch it by hand if it has to be really precise, this way is slower but much more reliable to get right.

Absolutely immaculate❤️❤️❤️. I could never figure out how to insert the loop..till now.

Beautiful work. Even experts sew slowly at times. Thank you for sharing.
This stitch in the ditch works so well in this demonstration because the seamstress makes sure each part is done correctly and patiently. The binding is carefully cut and pressed, the neck edge is trimmed as needed, the sewing is slow and careful and everything is well pressed. Using a stiletto is key to her success.
GRACIAS LES DESEO MUCHOS EXITOS
