That Extra Fine Stillness setting is hand-y.

i'm a professional filmmaker mainly working for cinema, here are my recommended settings for the RX0 II: note: do not try to compare this camera to any action cam, compare it to the semi-professional line-up. you can get an image very close to sony's bigger cameras and match multiple models very well! obviously there are trade-offs for this size, but give it a chance and take the time to read, try and learn. sony's online handbook is very detailed and helpful on each and every setting or option. 1) don't use the stabilizer. just don't it's electronic and bad. put it on an Osmo if you like but forget about it being an action cam. mount it accordingly! 2) don't go over ISO 800, even (or especially) with a flat profile! otherwise prepare for a noise fest. 3) only film in 4K (HD is blurry) and turn down sharpness - but turn up crisping (which will prevent some noise) 4) use an external recorder (and power) for longtime recordings! heat will be too much of an issue otherwise. 5) the external recorder records sharp and good HD though (in 10bit), even if camera set to 4K. 6) if you record internally heat will be an issue around when your battery runs out (40-50 minutes tops at normal room temperature) 7) do not use slog, rather go for cine2 with tweaked settings (soft whites/shadows roll-off, called "knee" and "blacks"), give it some tries. 8) get a cage with ND-filter ring and note that a 128GB card holds up to 2h:40m of 4K at 100mbits

Hey thanks for the advices. I’m a user of this camera since 2 weeks now and I’m just pissed off by the focus....I mean is there an option to put the camera in “all in focus” so I can record my vlogs without worrying about blurry and unfocused shots?

I've also read that WiFi use also contributes to overheating. Avoid if possible.

A very accurate and well orientated, helpful document. Thanks wholeheartedly !!! I can confirm that with the overheating mode set to "high" and an external power supply (not forgetting a sufficient sd card size) one gets videos of over 2h 30'.

Thanks so much for the video! Helped greatly setting up an overhead cam to capture the piano keyboard in multi-camera interactive piano lessons over zoom meeting. The RX0 is a nice, small, light camera for such things with better quality than a gopro. Used mark I, even more attractive. The RX0 has plugs for HDMI, USB, and audio with no accessories needed.

@@RehaAlev What do you think of Sony RX0ii vs. Zcam E2C with its MFT lens mount? There is an expensive mod kit for the RX0 to use MFT lenses, but the Zcam E2C or used E1 look attractive already with the mount.

Dear reha. thx for this video. It was very helpful ;) Would it be possible to make a tutorial about the focus settings? So many thumbs down for this camera is about the focus. I played with the camera in the Sony store with fully manual settings. Focus was a chore with the little buttons. How does the auto focus work? Thx so much ;)

Hi, this is a great video and helped me set up my RX0 II yesterday. Thanks. One thing I am having an issue with is getting the custom settings to save. I set the shoot mode to custom 1 and then adjust all my setting, but as soon as I change to a different shoot mode it and go back to custom 1 all the settings have reverted. I have searched and searched but can't seem to find out what I am doing wrong so I wondered if you knew how to save the custom profiles. Ideally I would like custom 1 set up for 4k 24fps and custom 2 set up for 1080 120 fps so I can easily switch between them.

Thank you for this video! I have my rxo ii dialed in now. What is the best way to view photos - through wifi to phone? Also, i purchased new sandisk xc 2 to replace the sandisk xc 1 .. and it should store 4k video and transfer them to phone via wifi correctly, is that right? Again, thank you for your help with setting up this camera!

People complain about the menus, but I have a Sony A7C, and an A7iv, so they're familiar to me.

quick question will software be released that utilizes the gyro info other than a phone app?

When I record in 4K the screen goes slightly dim when I hit the record button, is this normal and is there a setting to fix this? Thanks so much.

Hi, does the video stop when the memory card runs out in continuous shooting mode? Or does it continue recording by deleting it from the beginning of the video?

It can be powered by external powerbanks. If powerbank is big enough and its not to war where you use the camera it shoud be able to record for a long time in one go (just make sure you got the latest firmware... V2.0).... Battery life is not super long, i suggest you get (atleast) one extra battery... Personally... I got 3 extra batteries for my rx0ii

how to set autofocus? i find only manual autofocus mode, is there automatic mode for this cam?

Is this camera any good for capturing details like on a small coin ?

no, I don't think so. With 24mm, it's not a makro lens/camera and focusing distance is 20cm.

Change the shoot mode to one of the “M” options. There’s various modes for photos and video (movie mode).

I'm guessing this will blow my GoPro 5 stills out of the proverbial water.
