Hey Tampatec, i have a question im clueless as to how it works. SO say my TV has HDMI inputs, my blurary receiver im about to buy has 2 input,1 output. so the receiver connects to the tv via HDMI output, then i plug in my xbox and google tv to bluray receiver via HDMI, but what if i have an apple tv that connects to the tv via HDMI, does that mean i wont have the sound quality since its not being connected to the receiver? my tv has optical as well. im so confused please clear it out for me

Is there anyone who can help.....I have a cable box, tv and surround sound system. I have an HDMI cable from surround sound to TV, HDMI cable from cable box to TV. I put the optic cable from surround sound to TV as he stated in the video. When I got select function on the surround sound system it states to "connect an optical cable from the system to external digital device such as cable box or satellite receiver." I have a cable box. So should i be connecting the optic cable from system to cable box instead?

I wonder could you help me?Just got the Samsung HT4500R 5.1 House cinema for my birthday.I wasn't planing to purchase it.Not until i can buy a new TV.But this is a suprise and the new TV won't be coming soon,but i wont to make best of it.Problem is i dont't have ACR on my LG and i woud like to connect everything to Home system.Such as TV reciever,Xbox 360 and i would like it to change activitys without standing up and switching cables(that's a drag).Any ideas? I got the system working for blue ray player stuff, and tv. what is want, is to be able to get surround sound with a laptop connected hdmi at the same time, because we don't have wired Internet in the tv room

Thanks man. I had hooked my system up with a HDMI cable but the tv speakers wouldn't play through the surround sound system. I couldn't figure out why. Picking up an optical cable today. Does it make a difference whick kind/brand?

its all the same. but if you want sound on tv speakers and surround sound then connect cablebox and dvd player hdmi cables to TV inputs then TV's audio out into Surround sound's Aux/tv input then select aux/tv source on sur.sound .

That was long long time ago . Now what most people do is go from the cable box is HDMI into the TV and the TVs have spdif out then go from the tv to the surround sound. So you could use the surround sound for the cable box also .

So i don't need a smart tv if i have this home theater system?

I am using an HTS-J4500 connected to my PC through a Samsung H6200AW with HDMI cables. I can't use the speakers in 5.1 cos the PC offers me only stereo output. I tried to connect the PC with the HTS using an optical cable, but the HTS is in Digital Input mode which means HDMI and Optical at the same time. So I must turn off the tv and have no screen to get the audio. Do you have any ideas to use the TV as screen and get the 5.1 too?

Also I own the Hisense 55' LED Smart tv. K610GWN. The TV speakers sounded really good but now since the home theater has been hooked up it cancelled out the TV speakers, in fact I only use the Home theater remote to control the volume now .

Just got a rocket fish optical Audio cable, does it matter which end connects to which? The sound seems to be glitchy. It's like it's being unplugged & plugged back in every 20 sec or so. (Loses & regains sound)

Hopefully a simple question: I have the Samsung HT-C550. I connect my ipod to the aux 1 (3.5mm) but when I play music it only plays as if it were a 2.1 speaker system. I know my ipod outputs in stereo only, but I want it to play on the other speakers. Is there any way to get it to just play the stereo audio but on ALL speakers? Thank you!

+TallBoy how did you do that,I just got a HT when i do the sound check all the speakers work,but when I use Bluetooth or youtube only the subwoofer and front speakers work

SO i convinced my boyfriend to toss his Samsung smart blu-ray player, which came with the Samsung speaker surround sound (it was, apparently, the dog's favorite place to urinate, and the bottom was corroding). Initially, I thought it'd be easy to replace but that was naive in hindsight. Do you know what I can do so he can have his suround sound back or how to determine the model number for the smart blu-ray player or know of an alternative solution? I am trying to find a replacement smart blu-ray on Ebay to purchase but am not sure of the model number - the speakers look just like the ones you have here in the video (with the positive/negative wires that plug into the back of the speaker) as does the blu-ray and ipod device. I would ask him directly but would like to surprise him. Thanks so much for any help.

Optical cable goes from the blue ray to the tv? How does that give sound when you're watching cable through the cable box?

Here's the thing though, I am watching tv and on my sorround sound remote I hit play. That then takes me to audio playback screen on soround sound and my tv show image dissapears and goes to the audio playback screen. When this happens I go on tv remote and change the source to the cable box hdmi cable and then tv show comes back on d. in mode and cd stops playing. Sorry if im missing something, I know I messed up somewere.

We have samsung surround sound system as well hooked up to a Samsung led 50 inch tv. All of the speakers are wired and hooked up but only one speaker works which is the big one. We dont have an optical cable though. We cant even get the cable tv to work. Any suggestions?

start from scratch, connect cablebox and Blu-ray hdmi cables straight to TV inputs then TV's audio output cables into your samsung surround sound receiver's Aux/TV either (red/wht in) or Optic input, then select TV/aux source on surround sound unit. switch Sound mode by hitting PLll button. if something is not working unplug powercord for 1 minute to hard reset it. remember cablebox needs to be set to "hdmi audio" in cablebox settings change to hdmi audio. Good luck!
