How does this work for behind a router? My router can do tailscale by itself or a VPN server both openvpn or wireguard. Do both the nas and router need tailscale on them?

I at the moment do not have a router that does tailscale for me but in your situation you can just install tailscale on the NAS following the step by steps in the video and then add another client in this case a computer or phone and install tailscale on them once that is done both the NAS and the other device you connected should already be connected on the same tailnet of (tailscale) just by putting the IP it got from tailscale you should immediately be able to connect to it remotely with no issues I hope this helped 😁

i have not tried zerotier for this ill need to do some testing if i can make it work if i do ill make a video about it Thanks for Watching :D

Yes, you need to install it for the Computer you want to have access Any computer connected to the tailscale client is going to have access to that server in this case (TrueNAS Scale) Hope you found this useful

It didn't work for you? Was you successful in adding the device to your tailscale (tailnet) ?
