This works as you explained on my 2021 aviator but only if my iPhone XR is plugged in, when I unplug my phone I lose CarPlay. My phone is connected to my car thru Bluetooth and I can mak and receive calls without having it plugged in. Any idea what the problem might be. Thanks Dave

It's because the current generation Sync3 screen only has support for wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay so you have to stay connected to use that feature. You'd still be able to connect over bluetooth for phone calls or media streaming but CarPlay and AA need USB
Steve, android auto will not install on my new 2022 Aviator. It did work on my Flex BEFORE I upgraded SYNC 3 to 3.4 on the Flex. Then it did not work on the Flex either. It says its installed on my phone but there is no icon visible on the phone. What could be keeping this from connecting.

Can CarPlay be connected wirelessly? I broke my usb cable on a trip and couldn’t use CarPlay.

unfortunately not on the Aviator - only wired for now

The Aviator didn't have a 2016 model.. if that was a typo for 2019 it works the same way as it was shown in this video!

Right? The next gen model - which might be a mid 2024 update but most likely 2025 - is getting a redesign with wireless support!
So basically this suv didn’t come with wireless Apple CarPlay, or android 🤦♂️

No wireless. There are still a bunch of manufacturers out there with wired but it should be getting a upgrade in 2024
