Hello friends! Is anyone else out there using a WiFi extender like this? And if so, are you also using the 10/100 port for a hard wired connection?

Hi nice video, it took mine about 5 minutes to sink up to the router at first, directions are fine but I learn visually, thank you.

Yes, it will extend both or either and will combine them into one SSID. There are more powerful ones out now, but the PRINCIPLE remains the same, just with slightly different looking screens and performances. Thanks for the thanks!

Uncle, how do I test to see if mine is still connected? I don't see it on my desktop.

You should be able to get into its web-based menu by putting the IP address into the search bar of your browser of choice. For instance, in my video, my extender had a separate IP than my router, and I could check on it as I pleased. ALSO: If I log into my main router, I can see the RE305 as a connected client, see its IP address, know it is on my network, then separately log into it's IP too to see what is connected to IT! I hope that all makes sense.

Hello! I’ve bought a Tp-Link R305 and I configured it but I got a problem with it. Whenever I plug the Ethernet cable from my computer to the extender it doesn’t detect it and I have no wifi board installed in my computer. Can you give me some advice on what to do?

Hello! So, are you SURE the extender is picking up the WIFI signal from your router? If you go into the router menu and look for devices on the WIFI, does the RE305 show itself? If so, does it have an IP address (don't send me it!)? If all of this is YES, then when you plug the Ethernet cable into your computer (I assume desktop as it has no WIFI), what exactly happens? Does it do anything at all? If you right click on the lower right-hand corner of your monitor on the Ethernet icon, and select Network and Internet Settings, what does the Ethernet tell you? Connected, not connected, connected but no internet, etc.?

@@UncleMikeRetro The extender is picking up the wifi from the router cause on my mobile phone it works, on my computer it simply says “No connection” and when I check on the control panel on the Ethernet and Internet tab it just says that it’s not connected while the Ethernet cable is plugged in both.

@@Z3roluckk Any light on the Re305 device when you plug in the cable? Any lights on the ethernet port of your PC? Lastly, any way to try another computer (even a laptop with the WIFI shut off) to see if it isn't your desktop that is the issue?

@@UncleMikeRetro No they aren’t any lights when I plug the cable, and I’ma try it on another computer. But in the same time I’m considering buying a wifi board and connect it wireless and I think it’ll work better

@@Z3roluckk It may. That would solve your issues for sure. I am not committed to these TPLink devices, just had one that I wrote about, you know. I'd try the other computer "jut for fun" and get an inexpensive WIFI USB dongle. You are talking like $20 bucks.

Hi Dave! Thanks for the kind words. The wifi extender really won't make your internet connection any faster. Its more to allow your "regular" speeds in places where you were having issues, slowdowns and dead areas. If you have your router in one room and the ring bell is "iffy" for connectivity the extender will help make that a non issue just by being there. Think of it as a simple cheap mesh-like device. My biggest advice is always buy frim somewhere you can return it to if it doesn't help much.

They are low end and ultimately disposable, I agree. For me, they got the job done until I could put more money and effort into better tech. One is still providing a 100 MBS Ethernet connection across the house whenever I need to set it up for a jiffy. Use it for live streaming and works a charm.

@@UncleMikeRetro smashed one last year and send the video to the manufacturer and bought second one, did the set up step by step, few days later couldn't connect to the network, just had my hammer and kill it straight away
