This video is gold. thank you for the physical showing of the connections, most people just talk about it without showing and what you did with showing really helped me out so thank you.
Thanks great video
Thank you :D
Nice keep doing what you doing
Im going to subscribe bc it was so simple
youre awesome man
Great vid. Your good at speaking on camera and explaining. I bought a tonor xlr Mic and a 48v power supply. I bought just the 48v power supply instead of the scarlet focusrite because of the huge price difference. Never got it to work. Found out I was using wrong jack. Bought the right jack to connect to computer, and still doesn't work. Was I dooped? Do I need the expensive piece you showed here (focusrite) to make it work or is the 48v power supply enough? 😔 my first attempt trying this so Idk if Mic came broken or I'm doing somthing wrong
Great explanation ! what boom arm do you use?
How do you get the XLR Cable to connect to your mic when it's sitting on top of the boom arm? Mine comes out the back of my mic and looks bad on camera.
Do you just plug in your regular jack headphones to right of that box?
To which slot do I connect the AUX cable in the interface/mixer?!
old video, not sure if i'll get a reply.. but i bought an XLR condenser mic & scarlet 2i2 3rd gen.. pop filters etc.. and it sounds like poop. my boom mic on my seinnheiser sounds cleaner. how do i get rid of the background noise and crisp up the audio? .. also, is there a way to plug straight into the computer without adapting to usb? .. with some kind of pci-e card? i feel like im losing tons of sound quality and i feel like the interface doesnt power my mic enough
it is called an audio interface, not just interface guys. One more my concern is that the differences between sound card and audio interface. Can i combine external sound card and audio interface?
is there a way to show a video how you setup a mixer using logic or adobe audition?
I got a Shure mic and hoped to overpass the interface by using a XLR to USB Cable, but it won’t work properly, should I just get a cheaper Fifine K688 or is it worth to get an interface for mainly zoom calls and meetings with clients?
Great video! I'm wondering what's on top of the Focusrite Scarlett the blue thing at 3:57? Thanks

Hey that’s called a cloud lifter I think that’s what’s really needed for the Sm7b mic! It adds better clear gain I think or I don’t remember lol but I see everyone gets it
do interfaces matter is it the same if i get a 30 dollar one or a 150 dollar one?
just curious, i have a USB DAC plugged into my computer, so is it required for me to plug my headphones into the interface? or can i just ignore that part and keep my headphones plugged into my DAC? i'm guessing it would be fine for me to keep them plugged into the DAC, but i just wanted to make sure that wouldn't cause any issues
If you have a console will it connect to that with same setup?
Does this come with the two cables you show, and if not, can you put your Amazon links to those in the description box? I'm going to buy through your links so you get some money.
EPIC
So usually the audio interfaces are connected to the PC like this: microphone -> audio interface -> USB into PC. But can you also do it like this: microphone -> audio interface -> mic jack on the motherboard (and not USB) ..... is the second option possible and do we get better sound quality?

Sadly no, USB is the only way to connect an interface, the preamps inside the interface need power which a mic jack does not always support
if you need a video idea.. can you think of anything cool for people that use green screens or maybe some badass intermission stuff? just an idea
I see you did not talked about the cloud lifter you are using ether is it in the links in the description. And you need one of you are using a mic like the sm7b with a scarlet as it can't deliver enough clean gain for that mic :-)

Can you use any mic activator or does it HAVE to be the cloudlifer to get it to connect to pc and ps4? Bc I already had a lot of money spent for my audio setup.
I'm sorry but what's the blue thing on top because I have a XLR microphone what needs 48V do I need the blue box on top or just the interface I'm very confused sorry if what I'm saying doesn't make sense

The blue thing is called a cloudlifter, you really only need it for the SM7B and other low sensitivity mics. 48V is referring to phantom power, you will need an interface that provided 48V Phantom Power (which most do) but just keep an eye out for that when shopping for interfaces :)

@BravityM Thank you for this reply. My Blue Yeti says that it needs Phantom power - will that mean the focusrite will not work without that additional piece of equipment? Also, I notice the interface has its own gain knobs - will that cause a problem with my microphone, which also has its own built-in gain knob? The Amazon page states that the Scarlet has Phantom power - but you are using a seperate device for that. Is the Amazon page wrong?
So, you have your speaker cables running from the back of your interface? Can you still have them plugged into your motherboard? Also i was thinking about buying the at2020 and the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen, all i would need to do is plug the xlr cable into the interface and the interface into my pc. I just want to clarify before i go out and spend a few 100 on something. Thanks!

Once your speakers are plugged into the interface you no longer need them plugged into your PC, the interface becomes your new audio device and yes to get and XLR mic such as the at2020 to work all you’d need is the mic and the interface :)

@@BravityM Will the i terface be able to cancel out background noise generated by the speakers or headphones?
That interface is still very scary. Can I connect the audio cables into the pc. Is connecting the USB going to reduce quality. If I connect it into hub USB switcher so I can use it on multiple pc's, is that going to cause trouble. Can I split the audio to multiple pc's if I connect the audio cable into my desktop and the USB to my laptop? SO SO SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Also not only is the interface scary, xlr is 3+ extra equipment. Xlr mic, then an xlr cable to a sound lifter to another xlr cable to an interface into a USB that goes into the pc. While a USB mic is just mic into USB cable into pc.
i have an xlr cable that has an minijack. do i need an audio interface? Because it sounds bad, it makes an white noise.

Yes you do, most xlr microphones need extra power for them to work properly.
do i have to plug my headphones to it? bc my headphones are wireless with an usb
