How to set up an aerospace factory

Ғылым және технология

For more details on the DarkAero Mold Making Course, please send us an email at: course@darkaero.com.
The new shop received its first set of equipment including the DarkAero 1 production molds, a new router, and desks/chairs to teach the Aerospace Composites Course. With the production molds moved up to the new shop, the hangar is a lot more open and easier to work in which has already been helpful as we wrap up work with the DarkAero 1 prototype. There are a lot more tools and equipment we need to bring to the new shop but we are excited to get started! Work is still progressing a long for the DarkAero 1 prototype, and we'll have more to share on that soon.

There are a lot of other small tools that will be necessary for pilot production that we didn't get a chance to talk about in this video. Some other tools we plan to use for pilot production:
Oscillating Cutter: amzn.to/3s7K8hm
Oscillating Tool Blades: amzn.to/35Pkwfy
Torque Wrench: amzn.to/2LwFPev
Digital Scale: amzn.to/35lkewC

Before everything gets too firmly embedded, have you had a "lean" production expert look at your process flows, just to ensure you're not wasting any effort? Apologies if you already brainstormed it to an optimum, but an extra set of eyes can sometimes help.

Great progress. Two unrelated to this video items: How does one board the aircraft from the ground? That step up distance motivates the question. Trusting any hydraulic cylinder to hold position under load could result in a problem. I saw the engine/prop hanging from an engine hoist, unsupported. Just an observation.

@@DarkAeroInc In our training rooms we noticed a dramatic drop in reverb once we hung framed posters. The void behind the poster dampens sound waves. We also found some cheap canvas art that really does absorb well. I think we even put some batt insulation behind some of the canvases. And human bodies will also cut echos.

Hey Louis! How big of parts do you need to powder coat? If it’s small enough, the quickest and cheapest option would probably be picking up a used commercial oven. If it’s big, then you might want to explore building your own. We can give you some direction on how we built ours if that’s the path you want to take.
