How to set up a quick floating rigging point

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A floating rigging point is a great way to set a remote rigging point without having to ascend the tree to set up the rigging. This is a quick demonstration of how easily this can be set up to save to time as well as energy while working in the tree!

I'm curious how much force would be on that crotch in the tree. It appears to be one "basal anchor" being suspended by another "basal anchor"... So if you double the force on the pulley, do you then quadruple the force on the crotch? Just wondering!

If there is 100lbs on one side of the pulley then there is 200lbs on the pulley but there is 400lbs on the crotch. You are correction. That set up can get dangerous if they are not aware of force multiplication. Climb safe

So in a perfect scenario, yes, the force would be quadrupled. But with the added friction at the crotch or union, the numbers are probably closer to 3.5 with just a very rough estimate. It’s a good idea to make sure your rigging point is bomber for this setup. Regardless, it’s super fast and easy to setup so the trade offs should be calculated as to how advantageous this setup will be for you.
