    i started learning violin in 09/20 and i really like your videos, because you show that you can learn on cheap violin and then upgrade once you are better and plan to stick with it. when i started, most of the videos (minus your) i saw were instructors going on about a student needing to buy an expensive violin just to learn on. i bought a used 3/4 violin because thats what i could afford to learn on and then during xmas, i was able to get a discount on a good student violin. so thank you for showing that you Can start with a cheap violin and then upgrade once your better and want to keep playing.

    @@violinlounge that was my thought...buy what you can afford to learn on. better to buy a cheaper instrument to get into it instead of buying nothing and not learning.

    I really think that violin is pretty. Because it's all white. There are some violins (also cheap ones) that are white BUT they have a CONTRASTING color tailpiece and pegs. I wonder if you remember where you got that one zlata

    Hi! I was wondering whether you used a different rosin for your bow when u were able to play in the video or did you rosin with the one given with the violin? Because I am unable to rosin my bow with the one given with the violin, it give very slight sounds.

    Hello Zlata! Have you ever addressed this problem in your previous episodes: I'm a relative beginner and my open strings bowing sound is good, full and fine. BUT - once I start "fretting" (pressing on the fingered notes) the sound turns into scratchy noise that is quite unstable - there are glimpses of good sound, then scratches, then it goes away completely, next it catches up, turns into scratches again and so on. Once again - my open strings sound is fine. What I checked: - My fingernails are short - My bow is rosined well - otherwise the open strings would not sound so nice - I try to maintain the same bow speed and pressure as on open strings but I must admit, something may go out of control at this stage

  • @violinlounge

    @violinlounge

    3 жыл бұрын

    There can be many causes - it can be a focus thing: as you put down fingers, you pay less attention on your bowing and the technique can go out of control. This one is most common under beginners. - check if you're playing in tune: only in tune notes will resonate and have a good sound - if you're a beginner it can be that you're not placing your finger correctly on it's fingertip with some strength, the soft part of your finger can mute the sound - play around with all aspects of tone production: weight, speed and contact point... those are different per note and string

    Scratch up your rosin a little bit with a nail file or a pin because it's too shiny and it won't come off on your bow hair. It happened to me in the beginning and I didn't find any place at first to tell me the right thing about cheap rosin. I still have cheap rosin and it works great
