How to set up a cutting torch? / Quick Guide!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a quick guide to how to set up an oxy-acetylene cutting torch. you will have to set your gas pressure to something different based on the thickness of the steel your cutting. I ended up having my oxygen pressure at 12, and acetylene at 6. The steel I was cutting was 5/8" thick. And I had to move very slowly to get all the way through the steel.
If you have any confusion or questions, let me know in the comments.

Length of video was good, but you definitely should have been doing the adjustment with it lit for the demonstration, rather than just describing it. On a personal level, I learned to cut by watching I C Weld, and he runs pressures way higher, and I like to run like he does. I run 7 and 70 like he does, but with a 0 tip, and I get clean cuts, with almost no slag, and the piece just falls off. There's textbook, then there's practical. I'll take a clean cut, that requires almost no cleanup at the expense of using a bit more gas. If your goal is to use less gas, then the way you did it was fine. If your goal is to get the job done, Isaac's way is better. I like Isaac's way. I'm usually trying to get a job done, and I enjoy cutting when it's clean.

The tanks will be empty when the main valve is turned on, but the gauge shows 0 pressure.

@@duke6353 if you turn the valve on and hear no hissing from the nozzle or feel no air pressure coming from the tip, then its most likely empty.

The gas hoses and regulators can cost from $200-$400 depending on the brand. And the cost of fuel varies depending on if any local stores can sell you acetylene or if you need to exchange bottles.

So I got both tanks and some torches. The tanks are empty and they’re pretty old. From world war 2. I wanted to sell them as antiques but I wasn’t sure if there were worth something
