To light the Bubble stove I had I used a very small amount of tissue just to act as a wick and a gas clicker to set it going so it doesn't leave so much ash.

Thanks for that Lee, very interesting. Once ours is up to temperature, we find it more than adequate on No.1.The radiant heat is remarkable!

Thanks for commenting, maybe in the future but you go stove to calorifier passing through radiators on return to stove.

Very interesting thank you. Have you worked out how much diesel you burn over the winter, or for each hour of use? It seems a much cleaner and hassle free form of heating a narrow boat.

Thanks for commenting it is so much cleaner and more of a constant controllable heat throughout the boat were very pleased with it no ash clouds! I've worked out it uses approx 6 litres in 24 hours on the low setting and we rarely turn it up.

    40 litres aweek, so spot on 24hrs 7 days a week. 👍

Do you use a pump to circulate the hot water? If so does it have to be on always when the stove is lit or only when you want to heat water or the radiators? Great video?

  • @StarCraftsontheCanal

Thanks for you comment, yes I have a circulation pump that runs all the time the stove is lit, works really well the coolant flows from the stove to the calorifier through the radiators and then the pump returns it through the stove .

Hi, My reflex carburator is overflowing diesel, i think its because i adjusted the the little red painted screws, does anyone know how to solve this issue ?

I’m very very new to the narrow boat living… as for the stove. I’ve been told when leaving it in the day make sure I don’t turn it down to low as too not lose the blue flame. Does this mean keeping it relatively high while I’m out?

Hi, we leave us on low all the time just turn it up a bit when's it really windy such as today.

@@StarCraftsontheCanal well I’ve been on my boat since Monday and left it on low all day yesterday and loads of soot built up, I have had to take it apart after work today and now I have a blue flame at the bottom of the heater on medium heat… what do you think my issue is?

  • @StarCraftsontheCanal

The flame needs to be blue other wise it will soot up, you can adjust the Toby valve to achieve this, search you tube there are videos on how to do it.

Just curious but will bending those tabs eventually break them? If it normally runs at it's lowest setting then would it be better to get a smaller stove to just be more economical? Does it take long to heat a kettle? Are the radiators and water heater always connected?

  • @StarCraftsontheCanal

    @StarCraftsontheCanal

Tabs are still going strong 4 years in, yes allways connected to calorifier and rads, when stove up to temp a full kettle boils in about 10 minutes

Surely this will cost an arm and a leg with today's prices? This will surely get worse with the demonisation of diesel. Would be reluctant to get a multi-fuel stove to replace with this.

  • @StarCraftsontheCanal

The cost is comparable to running a multi fuel stove on smokeless coal. Red diesel can be purchased at domestic rate, so not paying what you see at the pumps.

Usually occurs when lighting, to much fuel in the pot which doesn’t ignite until the fuel reaches it’s burning temperature.
