We have been asked to show a few more technical details by our friends, so we take you back to our time in the yard in Portugal where we serviced everything on the boat before we left on our Big Trip to Brazil and Beyond.
Just a note my hands are very old and tough, not much affects them now. You might just want to use some of those new fangled gloves!
We thought this would be a good video for boat owner as you should be doing this every year to keep your winches sound.
Tip, the small springs have a habit of running away so get some spares before you start.
We are using these in a hot part of the world so the grease will be very soft but if you are in colder climates then apply oil to the paws and springs or they might stick. You still need to use a light grease for the gears, not too much though!
