Great video. I really enjoy the in-depth maintenance videos. I find it extremely satisfying taking something and making it work like new again!

It's something I hear often; how youtubers (re)building things can go into slow, methodical detail where TV shows never do. There's no false drama, rapid cuts / spark shots... Just slow and steady. Videos like this is why I don't bother with any cable TV service.

Thank you for a helpful video. I have a Lewmar 42 two speed winch. After I put it back together, the drum spends both clockwise and counter clockwise. Do you have a guess as to why the drum would spend counter clockwise? What did I not do right. thanks,

About the grease you nuked, won't it get stiff once it cools off? Thanks and thanks for the video.

Its not 'hard' really i could easily have kept putting it on cold. But it was much more malleable after some heat :)

Winches. We don't need no stinking winches.

I don't get it. You greased the gears but not the bearings? I would think the bearings need a bit of grease even more.

The bearings need oil. grease will gunk them up too much and that's why winches get sticky.
