How can you see punches coming in a fight? Here is the best way to train to see punches without flinching. This tip will help you instantly read a punch for self defence.
The fear of taking a punch cripples even the best of us. It’s ESPECIALLY a common problem among beginners learning how to fight and defend themselves. I mean… how do you expect someone to fight well if he’s afraid of getting punched? It’s near impossible right? Fortunately, there IS a solution and ANYBODY can overcome this fear….
Before we start you have to understand the possible causes of the fear of taking a punch in a fight.
There are 3 simple factors. The first is being hit actually hurts (it’s a pain response), the second is you can’t see the punches (it’s the fear of the unknown), third, you’re not mental prepared for being punched (this is the emotional response).
In short, the expectation of pain combined with the fear of the unknown and lack of will lead to an increased fear of getting punched in a fight.
We have lots more videos on how to fight with Wing Chun. Please visit our channel. Better yet feel free to leave a comment or a suggestion of what you would like us to film for you. It does not have to be about Wing Chun it can be about any subject related to fighting, how to fight, Wing Chun techniques, or even Wing Chun vs other styles of martial arts. Carrying a shillelagh walking stick is a good option....There are some excellent schools for learning to use them well, but they don't take much creativity to discover how useful one can be.... You can discover and train your own methods therewith, both defencively and offencively, (alongside your empty hands training)), and, once have an idea of martial principles, and the effectiveness thereof cannot be overstated. The same goes for the Kubotan Keychain, and other similar devices. Basic everyday and household objects are also useful to look into and train the effectiveness thereof, and can easily be carried and made easily accessible as one grows older. The simple biro, especially certain brands and types, cannot possibly be overstated, also...

it is better to be ready at all times than being sorry when it comes least expected. I am 42 myself and I still practice. a few wrist locks, arm locks, coupled with boxing skills, good footwork, a few kali skills, should do the trick.

I found that as you get older, distance becomes an ally. The younger fighter is going to have more speed, strength and stamina. So, what other options do you have in your favor? One strike options is always going to be most favorable. Learning and remembering several key strike points and zones would be a big help here. Secondly, maintaining mobility to limit the likelihood of receiving impacts from well aimed attacks is probably your next best option. Intended to give you just enough time to extract yourself from immanent harm. Other than those rules, if I id a trouble situation or an assailant heading my way. I go off in the opposite direction. Again, distance is my ally. It's not about whether you're being unmanly. With so many nutters out there, it's about surviving.

"Who spins to kick in a street fight?" - I know a guy who actually got off. Bullies were I don't know, first grade of high school and he was about 2 years younger. In act of desperation, almost cornered, he spin kicked the leader, knocking him down. Rest off the guys TOOK notice. Rare, but still happens. If you look closely, most of typical bullies, not gangsters, have very similar group composition. There's withdrawn, cold an strong one, there's a 'nice' guy, there's small, unimposing loudmouth, there's a leader and possibly one other. Knock down either leader or 'muscle' and group usually switches to peace mode.

Yeah ive done it. I think its a good one for a foght cuz it creates distance and moves your head back a bit. And theres a lot of weight and momentum behind it, it can pierce to the body quite easily if you do the kick right obviously

A guy threw a shopping trolley at me once, I knocked it away with a spinning back kick & it stopped the fight straight away, he was obviously surprised, but so was I, it could have gone so wrong, but I got lucky & hit the side instead of my foot going into it & getting caught up. I was probably almost as surprised & impressed as he was.

Not always but, when you’re outnumbered they’re usually the type that never want to go one on one. That often times means each of them is expecting their buddy standing with them to make the first move on the intended victim. This allows them to be sure not to take any damage and jump in without any risk of injury. If you have no way to escape or talk them down and you assess that none of them wants to be the first to strike use it to your advantage. You can definitely get a shot at the first guy and most likely the second. When you do that make them shots to do serious damage. Nothing but incapacitating strikes.

Shifting weight onto a particular leg is one of the biggest indicators, particularly when someone is going to kick. A trained boxer may be very hard to read, particularly if they have street experience also...( They will have the shot already loaded, in their initial stance....) But most lads will give it away with the shoulders...

Just something from my 16years of martial arts and (unfortunately) alot of street fights: the look away and the step back are truly the 2 most important signs. Why is that? Steping back even slightly with one foot is to gain balance and have enough force to punch (no untrained person can really hit correct from a square position). Why the look away? This person is preparing him to punch you by looking away. even for a short moment he dehumanzied you. Think like this: if we were just talking and discussing and i looked u in the eyes i will feel emotions etc. by looking away i cut that tie, and it will be easier for me to do damage to you. Theres 2 types here those who don’t want to punch or don’t really feel good doing that (those will do the look away like 95%). But there are also psYchos and/or trained people who will punch you while looking straight into your eyes and without telegraphing almost anything. So always keep your hands up in a defensive but non aggressive position („the thinker“) and be prepared to block or strike first. Have a nice day guys🤝🔥

Yeah im69yrs and workout at KungFu SanSoo, 3-4 times a week. When “old age” doesn’t play a trump card...SanSoo is loosely interpreted as “Street fighting” form of Kung Fu. In that the study is to incorporate the fighting techniques in a Street fighting forMatt. So back to you whenever I watch your videos I see exactly what we are trying to accomplish. I learn from every time I watch you and I also feel fulfilled most of the time I watch you because it’s so logical. And dare I say similar. I see you are smack in these comments and just want you to know that there’s somebody out there that the Texas stuff to heart and really appreciate the confirmation. Which is what I get from your videos thank you very much. Just some old guy

Reading the shoulders is a good indicator. We used to do a reaction drill. The training partner/bad guy has to tap you on any shoulder with any arm (simulating a jab or straight punch) Haymakers take longer. The defender has to palm strike their shoulders (the one that's moving) to stop them in their tracks. I was amazed when i learnt it. Felt like a super power. I used to ask people at school to try and hit me and practice. Now I'm slow and old lol

I don’t understand it but everywhere I go, and even if I drink and provoke whether I go to the hood or down town night alone or day alone gang or no gang people see me and are friendly to me. Instantly they submit. I’m skinny they can throw me like a tennis ball if they want to. Sometimes, I can’t believe it myself. Now that I’m very confident, I go to the worst part of the city alone, everyone I see in the eye straight will node or see the other way. Really Scares me. Any one out there With such an experience?

So many good points to think about & try. For me 1.30 rang true. I've seen this so many times. I also think it's a way for the aggressor to load up without drawing attention to it. Then bam!!

FOR A NORMAL DRAGON KICK YOU ARE RIGHT,PEOPLE MIGHT SEE THE KICK BUT THERE IS ONE KICK THAT IS TWICE AS FAST THAN THE DRAGON KICK,"THE TALE OF THE DRAGON KICK",IS A KICK TWICE AS FAST AS THE NORMAL DRAGON KICK,THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT YOU ARE NIT USING THE NORMAL "360 DEGREES HEAD MOVE",IN THE DRAGON KICK YOU NORMALLY USE THIS SPIN OF YOUR HEAD TO KNOW WHERE TO PUT THE KICK,BUT IN THE "TALE DRAGON KICK" YOU DON'T USE IT,SO YOU GAINED TWICE OF THE SPEED BUT LOST EXACTLY PRECISION(THE NORMAL.KICK DOES);THIS TALE KICK I USED IT ONCE IN A "STREET FIGHT" AND THE GUY(WHO HAD BOXING TRAINING) DIDN'T SEE IT COMING AND I HIT HIS KIDNEY AND BEND HIM,THIS KICK REALLY WORKS IN A "STREET FIGHT"!!

The best cues are watching the front elbow and front knee. They move at 1/2 speed when doing a straight punch or kick, and 1/4 speed when doing a hook or side kick. If you watch the fist or feet, they travel too fast to catch. Watching the shoulders can also be deceiving. They can feint the shoulder movement, causing you to respond, then he will throw the real punch while you are dropping your hands.

I always direct my vision in an area just below the chin or on the area where the collar bones meet. in this way, I can monitor the movement of the person in front of me. From that point, I expand my peripheral vision so that I can see the movement of his shoulders. I don't look in the eyes.
