    Also, cooking in cast iron naturally blends in the iron into the food and is good for increasing the haemoglobin levels for everyone, especially-vegans and pure vegetarians that do not eat meat or fish.

    Very informative. Any other alternatives to flax oil? I've heard Crisco is good?

  • @PrimalGourmet

    Great question! I actually talk about this in the blog post (cookprimalgourmet.com/how-to-season-cast-iron). I personally like flax for initial seasonings because it forms a smooth and hard bond. Crisco is often recommended as well.

    What if you've already improperly seasoned your cast iron? How do I get the gunk off?

  • @PrimalGourmet

    @PrimalGourmet

    Depending on the state it's in, you can probably get away with following all of the steps outlined in the video and on the blog post but try using a steel wool sponge to remove the built-on gunk.

    no need to season i every time you use it....especially if you use it several times a week. Just remember to dry it completely, no need to se soap, just rinse with hot water and dry......that’s it.....they are a true time saver in the kitchen......good luck...

    Aruna Tayi to be honest-nothing. maybe you shouldn’t cook with acidic foods like tomatoes too often, but cooking with them once won’t hurt the seasoning.

    it's quite annoying frankly, if u don't care much about having a good seasoning than you can do this much less frequently but your food will stick and it will be harder to clean and cook some foods
