How to scratch and phrase vocal samples | Scratch tutorial

Музыка

By popular demand (not...), here's a little - my first-ever actually! - scratch tutorial on how to break down and scratch vocal samples and sentences to phrase and improvise with any vocals when scratching over a beat.
I tried my best to make it clear with a step-by-step approach while keeping it concise and to the point. It's better to use an ultra-pitch sample at first for this kind of scratch phrasing to make it slow and easy.
Feel free to ask questions in the comments and I'll do my best to help out!
Let me know if you like it and find it useful and I'll try to upload more scratch tutorials.
Check out some of my other videos for examples of vocal phrasing over a beat.
Hope y'all enjoy!

This is the very best breakdown video of the core techniques and principals used in vocal phrase skratching I have seen. Clear & concise with multiple camera angles and the very important slow down of the video show casing each technique. This has inspired me to dive into an area of my advanced skratching that I have ignored for to long. Thank you Grameu for making the time to share the skills & wisdom you have learned with the world.

Thanks! I can't provide the vocal sample. It's on the 12" scratch record Path of least resistance by the Skratchlords. But you can practice with just any vocal sample. The aim of this tutorial is to describe the steps that you need to follow and apply to any sample. Give it a try with whatever you have at hand!

Other than getting your hands on the record (physical or digital copy if it's available?), I don't know. This vocal sample is from the 12" scratch record Path of least resistance by the Skratchlords. But you can practice with just any vocal sample. It's easier to start with a sentence or sample that has clear demarcations between syllables. Then you just need to follow the steps I describe in the tutorial. Good luck with your practice!
