Also say no with no guilt to family members, relatives need limits. So we all live in health and in harmony. No is no, end of story.

No is my default. I say No without guilt and I’ve learned to say it from a very young age, because people will steal your time and overload you with work or time consuming tasks either in your job or personal life. I listen politely and decline politely, but if they continue to pressure me then I just tell them the truth: ‘I’m not interested in participating in that (whatever) because I really just don’t want to do it.’ As some people don’t respond well to being told no, no matter how polite I say it.

Now I finally know why men never took no as an answer and always tried to persuade me. It was because my voice went higher. Also, I'm a people pleaser unfortunately so that makes it even more difficult to say no. I will try saying no in a more firm way now. I hope it works

You provided excellent examples of how to graciously decline. I usually say " I am sorry, but I have to decline." If the person pressures me or wants another date or time, then I say " I still have to decline. I have a lot on my plate and I do not want further stress so please accept this and please do not ask me again." It is true. We all have a lot on our plate. We all have stress. The invitation creates more stress and accepting it will overload us with stress, so no need to provide other reasons, as this is the actual truth for most of us, "I have a lot on my plate and cannot accept." Easy, peasy.

The most important thing to remember is that one does not help everyone by helping them. Really important! Sometimes, you are helping people by NOT helping them (as they need to learn sth by that). 👍

Hi! I'm currently a 16 year old girl and I have problems with conversation skills. Before, I used to talk very loudly, especially when I was happy, excited, surprised, etc. It was so loud that if I went into a coffee shop and chatted with friends, everyone in the shop would look at me. I was complained that I was too childish and it made me very frustrated and worried. I started speaking smally, so smally that almost no one could hear me. And for some reason, my hearing ability also decreased. So I can't tell people what I want and I can't hear what others say. I wanted to say more loud, but I was afraid it would be too loud like in the past. This really upsets me because I have no friends and I feel lonely. I like the way you talk or hold the conversation so if possible, could you spare some time to help me solve this problem? I would really appreciate it if you could do that 🥹🥹

Thank you so much for this video Jamila!! In my opinion it's perfectly okay to not give a concrete explanation for why you said no and you can just say "I have other commitments" or "I have other plans" and not explain what it is. Or even a "I plan to stay in that night because I have a really hectic week". I think this is how we can draw boundaries and not appeal to people who want to push them!
