The only debt I have is my house. I started this year January 2024 snowballing my $212,000 mortgage balance. The balance now is $162,000. My goal is to have it paid off in 2026.

The tip on electricity is true! Where I live it’s cheaper between off peak times 9pm and 9am. I turn my dishwasher on and wash clothes during that time. Put a load in at 9pm and another at 6am, which HAS made a difference on my bill!

You are right. I have to re teach myself again, paying my debt down and learning the value of every dollar.

I started an HSA account about 4 years ago and it has been a life saver

Agreed, having a good financial advisor is invaluable, my portfolio is well-matched for every season of the market and has just yielded 120% from early last year. I and my advisor are working on a 7 figure ballpark goal, tho this could take another year.

I have thought about everything else and never thought about that and I have ran a business and starting over to get back there but I haven’t been going hard enough to get back there. Before 2022, the high yield savings account was at 2%. The high yield savings account is influenced by what the Feds set as interest rate.

1. You pay taxes on the interest earned. 2. There is no physical bank, so you have to wait a couple of days for transfers. 3. The account is not with your current bank. Those are not deal breakers for me, but it will depend on the person.

I started a HYS account with SoFi. It was 4.8%. Needless to say I was overjoyed. Last month it went down to 1.2%. I know they fluctuate but how did it drop that much. I'm hoping it wasn't just a promotional rate to get me in.

Here is why…SoFi members with Direct Deposit or $5,000 or more in Qualifying Deposits during the 30-Day Evaluation Period can earn 4.60% annual percentage yield (APY) on savings balances .. however, Members without either Direct Deposit or Qualifying Deposits, during the 30-Day Evaluation Period will earn 1.20% APY on savings balances
