What is the “grit” of the sandpaper you are using? And when spray painting should I only use matte options? Or does the spray paint finish even matter?

    Hi! 1-I love your tutorials! 2- can you tell more about mod podge method? You've said with mod podge you have to add 2-3 coats. Did you mean mod podge*3 and after this to add glitter? Or mod podge,then glitter and then 2-3 additional coats? Thank you!

  • @GLITTAFULLLC

    @GLITTAFULLLC

    Hey!! Thank you so much for watching! The mod Podge method is a method of applying glitter. I have a video on how to do that. I’ll link it here so you can watch it for more detail. I have to add 2-3 coats of glitter using the mod Podge method, I find to use more coats when I use white spray paint. Because the color white peers through so the additional coats of glitter help hide that. Now you can at times avoid that issue by using the spray paint color closest to the glitter color you’re using. I hope that helps a bit. kzread.info/dash/bejne/oGiWrbt8ntPUm9o.html

    Great video! I had a question on a cup I was working on .. I’m just starting to learn the process. I have a cup that i spray painted then went over it with epoxy, then left it on the spinner to dry. But as a few minutes went by the epoxy started separating leaving huge dimples, it looked as if it was melting. Any advice ? I’ve had this happen twice to spray painted tumblers but never ran into this issue with glitter tumblers.

    I’ve made two or three tumblers without sanding them and the epoxy stuck to them perfectly fine. Is this necessary at all? It just seems like possibly unnecessary work. I know you said in the video it’s so the epoxy can adhere better to the tumbler. But have you had an issue with the epoxy not sticking to the tumbler without sanding? Just curious. Thanks! BTW I am still learning so I thought I’d ask to have the knowledge if it’s needed for my next project.

    +Jarenice Bravo Hi!! Okay so the reason you sand your cups is because you want to give the paint and epoxy a rough service to hold on to, so in the event that maybe a cup falls and it chips. It’s only that a.. chip. The epoxy itself will level out on the cup it will finish the same as a “properly” prepped cup but you do the prepping in the video to perserve life to the design. When I started I didn’t do the prep I showed in the video. I never noticed the difference of the two methods until I had to strip a cup and noticed that I can remove the design almost like a shell. Whereas the prepped cup needed elbow grease to take off. So really the prepping is to give your design a longer life expectancy. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Join us on FB we can also chat there! :-) Btw this was a great question thank you for asking.

  • @GLITTAFULLLC

    @GLITTAFULLLC

    4 жыл бұрын

    Licondalia First or welcome!! You’re going to be hooked. This is so much fun! To answer your very valid and great question. Yes, even if the cup has a color finish you’ll want to give the cup a light sand to roughen up that surface. The cups that have that finish makes it even harder for the epoxy to stick to the cup and extremely easy to peel off. Once you’ve sanded the cup, follow the same steps in the video as if you are prepping a regular stainless steel cup. Sand, clean surface, spray paint and then decorate your tumbler in manner desired. If you have any further questions please let me know.

    Fish eyes could be so many things. Dirst, weather and the mix itself. I would start by wiping down your cup microfiber cloth or paper towel before adding epoxy. Your room shouldn’t be any higher or any lower than 72-75 degrees. Ensure your mixture is the same quantity.
