Watch my video all about Epoxy safety here:
• Epoxy Resin Safety Tip...
PLEASE READ FIRST: Epoxy resin is toxic while it is curing, and safety precautions must be taken. Wear proper protective equipment (nitrile gloves, long sleeves, full-face respirator, and apron) and work outside or in a well-ventilated area. Do not allow epoxy resin to touch your skin or be inhaled through fumes or dust. If you get some on your skin, wash it twice well with soap and water. Always read the safety information!
This video teaches you the complete process of making DIY glitter tumblers, from selecting the right tumblers and adhesive to applying the glitter and epoxy resin to create a tumbling/curing rack to prevent drips! I break it down step by step to make it EASIER for you to have success!

UPDATES/CHANGES: Check for any updates, changes, or additional videos for this project at jennifermaker.com/updates
Glitter tumblers are stainless steel insulated mugs and cups that you glitter, seal, and decorate! They are VERY popular because you can personalize them and they look FABULOUS when they are all done. Also, the sealing process completely protects the vinyl decal so you never need to worry about it coming off.
The process to make a glitter tumbler may seem complicated, but I’m going to take you through it step-by-step.
There are 11 steps to the perfect glitter tumbler:
Step 1: Prepare and tape your tumblers for the glitter.
Step 2: (Optional) Spray paint your tumblers.
Step 3: Put adhesive on your tumblers and glitter them.
Step 4: Seal the glitter on your tumblers with a clear coat.
Step 5: Prepare a way to rotate your tumblers while they cure.
Step 6: Mix and apply high gloss resin to your glitter tumblers using proper safety precautions.
Step 7: Remove your tape after 30 minutes (and before 45 minutes)
Step 8: After five hours, tape your tumblers and sand them. Wear protection!
Step 9: (Optional) Apply your vinyl decal.
Step 10: Apply your second cost of resin.
Step 11: Remove your tape after 30 minutes (and before 45 minutes) and allow your tumbler to cure for 24-48 hours.
The difference between the extra fine glitter and chunk glitter really comes down to personal preference. The extra fine glitter is definitely more sleep and smooth, but not as sparkly.

I’m so happy that so many people are enjoying this video! A few important tips to remember if you want to try this yourself: Watch my epoxy safety video at kzread.info/dash/bejne/g4h1p6iDls-Xppc.html and make sure you use your epoxy in a well-ventilated area, wear a full-face respirator with organic vapor cartridges, nitrile gloves, and a PVC apron, and keep your work area clean. I understand this video doesn’t go into enough depth about safety, but my later videos do and I now have a dedicated video just on epoxy safety! You'll find the Ombre (and Rainbow) Glitter Tutorial at kzread.info/dash/bejne/kYyMsaWCkajSZZc.html

Hi Jennifer, first off, let me say that I always enjoy your videos. You go into such great detail that even a first-time crafter can follow the instructions with such ease. You always make such beautiful projects, I love them all. Being new to tumblers myself, I am surfing KZread almost all day, every day, to learn as much as I possibly can. With that being said, I watched a video the other day where the host was using chunky glitter and she took an extra step to almost guarantee that the glitter lay flat on the cup before any other steps were made. She used Reynolds plastic wrap (though I am sure parchment paper would work as well) and placed the tumbler flat on one end and rolled it while pressing against the tumbler. This process allowed her to flatten the glitter against the tumbler. I thought that it was a great idea and wanted to share it with you and the readers in case you or someone else wanted to try it.

A tip as far as spray paint goes, if your glitter is translucent a base coat goes a long way. You'd need many coats of translucent glitter to get a solid covering. Base coating, especially with a matching color helps reduce the coats of glitter you need for good coverage

Someone needs to invent a glitter that isn’t messy. My wife has a business that does very well with mugs. I do the graphic work, she does everything else. Now, my house is a three story in the middle of nowhere with 15 rooms. More than we need but I set up one room in the top floor back corner for her crafts and that glitter is in EVERY room. Even found some behind the glass on one of my canon zoom lenses. Every room. About to make a rule she has to strip before leaving that room. 🤣😂

@@XxNekoJennyxX Lol yes that does work in the important places. It cost more to have my camera lens cleaned than it would have been to buy a new one which I did. I can spend a day cleaning glitter and ten minutes later she has it all over the house again. I gave up. Now I can sit on the toilet and count the colors on the floor.

Jennifer, loved the video. But I wanted to share with ya that if you are stopping the turner while it is still attempting to turn, over time, you can mess up the bearings and/or gears inside. Stopping the turner for a second to remove the tape would've made the cleanup a bit easier all around. Also, acetone is amazing on sloppy wet resin. Thanks for the video! they look great!

Nice tutorial, I use the same epoxy. I usually mix mine until its clear. I noticed yours was a little cloudy sometimes in my experience if you apply it when its still cloudy you can end up with a sticky tumbler. Mainly because it was not mixed properly. Just a tip just in case anyone tries it and have that problem. :)

  • @heckyeshess

Sonya Lynette absolutely, that brand of resin has a 30 min set time, there is no reason not to take the time to properly mix until clear. If not mixed properly, it will fail in a short amount of time with the resin getting bubbles in it etc.

Here is a chunky glitter tip to help you get a much smoother finish. If you do a burnishing technique the glitter Will lay flat instead of being lumpy. I use a cheapy paint brush to burnish while the adhesive is still tacky. Works like a charm.
