If you say that people from the art industry annoy you - then you are not from this industry, because everyone is an artist there and this is how to have HUMILITY, as in all areas of life HUMILITY, not nerves!

Totally see eye to eye with this guy with most of his points of view. I really enjoyed his cool calm collected approach, level headed expectations are the key take away. Thank you. 💟 P. S- as an artist I find therapeutic value in learning more about myself & my place in this world. Art of any medium/approach is a great stress relief & adventure in personal development & understanding the human condition .🙏

Great lecture ! i thought it well thought out yet simply put. that was appreciated and exactly the information i was seeking. all that being said this lecture was spoken in human language, i would love to see Mr. Trotin display his well hidden talent for the linguistic arts. Perhaps in a ted talk?

if they were truly successful they wouldve automated the income from the gallery and it wouldnt be as difficult and time consuming as he makes it sound in the video. i wish there were visual examples of the ugly artwork that was said not to work or sell in the video.

I don’t think this is accurate. Galleries request a quote for the value of the art for insurance purposes, that’s one part. The second is if you’re receiving a check for the work sold, you can do the math a determine the final selling price. If that price doesn’t match what you discussed with the curator for the art then you’ve got a problem. This should be a transparent agreement otherwise people talk and a gallery can crash and burn easily. Most galleries here in USA have a 60/40 split w/ artist taking 60. Some are 50/50 but the work sells for high dollar amounts. You base your price on what the split would be to compensate for your materials/ hours/ experience in creating the work.
