Hi in the Uk we cross over. We call it chopping. We also couple it with a shuffle. Hence, "chop and shuffle".

This is such a helpful breakdown of cross pulls, thanks for making it!

We learned cross step on banked track, but on flat track we used the cross pull method. It's really neat to learn the rules of Artistic regarding similar moves.

When I started derby I got told I was doing my backward crossovers wrong because I just did them how I was taught in figure skating! It's cool to see the two types explained so well! I guess figure skaters are taught like Europeans

I'm in Europe and to be honest, I almost never do crossovers but crosspulls 🤷‍♀️ first, I even though it was all the same thing 😆

I'm in here in the states and we were taught scissor cross pulls no lifting, no extra steps

I am struggling with this. I can do the pull with the outer foot but my brain and body doesn’t want to lift and pull the inner foot

Is it possible to do a forward cross pull?

Picking up the foot ensures the correct weight transfer which is why it but the other way looks nicer. I think cross pulls are easier with the ? mark pattern.

@Yucky Hell yeah there is! Depending where you live, in Perth there is Morely Rollerdrome, and thats all i know since i'm a WA baby. Google it, i'm sure there will be some nearby. They should all supply Skate Australia lessons.
