    I'm a student about to graduate. My questions about perms are... While at school we have to have 9 sections with clips when we work on a client. Top 2 rollers must roll forward and all the rest backwards. When your in a salon do you still need to make 9 sections and use clips? It seems time consuming to me. And do you need to roll the first top 2 forward?

    After school, there's no rule. I always do the middle section first on the back and then the front. I begin in the crown and go down the head with partings equal to the size of the rod or roller (I do the same process for roller sets) ... go down to the nap, turn my client around, and do the middle section back to front. This allows the client to bend their head down and your arms won't get as tired. Then I move to the side backs as seen in the video and take the parallel partings in the back and then leave the front sides for last. This keeps me from working in a hole. Just posted a new video. Hope you enjoy

    I want to perm my hair and am not a professional. My hair is short. I can tell that you roll UNDER the rollers in back and on the sides, but it seems that you are rolling in the opposite direction up front! I had intended to roll all my rollers under. Also, how can I be sure that I have put the product on all the rollers? Finally, should I use the same size rollers all over? I want to have a soft fluffy hair do, not tight, not curly. Thank you for your help.

    I don't give professional advise without knowing the texture and condition of your hair. I will say this, I roll down! No matter where I'm standing, I roll down. Whether its perm rods or rollers, I start at the top, do the middle section down, front middle section, and then move to the sides. Thank you. Added a new one today!

    at what length do you decide or determine you have to piggy back? How long the hair is?

  • @dothousestudios6196

    @dothousestudios6196

    3 жыл бұрын

    Length and perm rod would be considered. You just want to make sure you have good saturation and with very long hair, it wouldn't be able to reach the inside. So to answer your question, I'm going to say about 2" past the shoulder would be a good length to transition to piggy back.

    The first row that goes in has so much drag on the roots. It should be over direct so that it sits on top of the sections for maximum volume.

    Yes! I’m familiar with base position. You can do a perm on base, half off, and off. This would ultimately control the tightness of the curl. This video is more about partings and roller placement.

  • @user-tv3zv2gk7v

    @user-tv3zv2gk7v

    It has no effect on the tightness of the curl. What it does determine is root lift. The aim of almost any pern whether it be very tight or a loose body wave is give lift at the roots so as to add volume. At least that si the way I was taught. Why would your first rod bet in off-base and all the rest on base? It is not a good example. @@dothousestudios6196

    46 yr.HD...you roll too much hair n your roll up & I notice at top on side.the band ( that fastens the rod ) is laying on roll up rod Which cases an indention .Just a reminder Also hold up the hair when u start to roll to give it volume ( when rolling side Never roll n a straight line ( causes separation) n the hair. Alternate your rolls n back so it will not have lines. Hope this helps you. Not being Critical to you but they don't teach the same from years back... The partings should be half the width of the perm rod .. whatever the size, that’s the technique. It needs to be thin enough to saturate the hair without dripping If I were doing a chemical application AND I put straws to raise the band … bricklaying is for roller sets. This video is for placement to keep from working yourself in a hole!

    I do the front and back exactly the same. I do the center front down toward the face and turn to the back and go down toward the neck. At that point, I start at the near back top and go stair step down the back then I move toward the front side starting at the top. Keeps you from working yourself in a hole and needing short rods.
