How to Rewind Brushless Motors | Learn to fix or modify your electric motors

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

You'll learn the basics on rewinding brushless motors, I do it myself all the time as an experiment or just to fix one of my own brushless motors.

Nice instructional, I've been working on the technics of rewinding small brushless motors for a while now and it definitely takes much patience. I just leave the stator on if its glued because its to easy to damage during removal and although this dose make it much more difficult to wind you end up with a much better product. Ive found that household fans are a great source of wire for rewinding because the motor has a coil with 3 or 4 different gage wires that are the sizes you would find in these motors im rewinding with plenty of length of each and the fan motors are easy to take apart without damaging the coil. also finding a fan that doesn't work to recycle has been very easy for me.

MAN I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH. MY MOTOR WORKED. SUBBED AND RING ON. For those who are wondering I fixed my IFlight Xing 2207 1800KV motor. It's delta configuration. Big letters are 11 turns and small letters are 10. Cable diameter is 0.5 mm and 4 meters of wire should suffice. The rest is nicely explained in the video.

I am about to fix a Xing 2208 1800kv motor. Can't find replacements anywhere that will be here quicker than 3 weeks and cheaper than $40 for the single motor. I expect your info to be the same as 2208 and 2207 are almost identical.

@@dedestro make sure to fix back the stator with glue otherwise it certainly will not remain stationary, causing desync midflight. That's what I encountered in the end sadly... Also I would note the turns on the windings and measure the cable dia just to make sure but you should be just fine with my info too. Good luck 🙌

Thank you for your very informative "almost complete" instructional video on rewinding brushless motors. I said "almost complete" video because (unless I missed it), you didn't suggest or inform us on what gauge (AWG) copper windings we should use. For instance, can you either tell us what AWG you're using in this video? Or, what I would use in a Power 10 Brushless Outrunner Motor, 1100Kv ? Also, was the the epoxy glue really necessary to cover the insulation removed which may have occurred from scraping the old/burnt windings? Because I've removed quite a bit of this insulation while using a solvent to remove the burnt windings. And, since the windings are already insulated, do you think it would make much of a difference? Mainly though, I'd really appreciate suggesting a good all-around Gauge *AWG to buy? Fr my research...I'm thinking 32AG? Thank you!

This is life saving! I am making a small home-made 3D printed brushless motor just for fun, how do you get a 3-phase power source and how do you know the power is sufficient? Thank you so much! I don’t need much, as long as it moves, I will be happy! Also in the winding table link you shared, what does the reduction number mean towards the last column of the table?

  • @garyr7027

You can use a qtip to rewind the stators. Qtip brand, (if i remember correctly) use hollow plastic straw type, just cut the cotton ends off and run the wire thru the straw. It's basically a homeade tool for more precise control with better rewind results and something to hold on to as you rewind. Since it's plastic it won't scrape the coating off the wire. You might have to slightly mash a end of the straw with pliers first if the stator poles are too close together to fit between the poles but it will get the job done pretty well. It sure beats doing it with your fingers. Note: some qtip brands don't use hollow plastic, but use solid paper instead and those won't work. It has to be the hollow plastic type qtips. This is something i came up with several years ago and used it so i know it works.

What happens with the different gauge of wire? If you increase the gauge does it make it more efficient and slower like more windings does. Or does it make it less efficient and faster like less windings does? Or the opposite way so thicker is faster and thinner is slower. Also what happens if you use a dual winding instead of a single winding?
