How to Reverse Osteoporosis in 6 Months!

In this video Dr. Doug Lucas discusses how osteoporosis can be reversed through a comprehensive program that addresses underlying factors such as bone metabolism, hormone health, gut health, stress, and lifestyle. The case study follows the journey of a 63-year-old man named Bob who was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis. By implementing lifestyle changes, optimizing nutrition, and using targeted supplements, Bob was able to improve his bone health and reverse osteoporosis. Over the course of 12 months, his bone health score increased, his bone turnover markers improved, and his fracture risk was significantly reduced. This case demonstrates that osteoporosis can be reversed naturally in most people with the right approach!

The videos on this channel will be focused around helping women navigate healthspan and longevity through the lens of osteoporosis, perimenopause, and menopause. When it comes to osteoporosis and menopause providers and educators often get tunnel vision and your symptoms might get better, but if you don't keep longevity in mind, symptom improvement may come at the expense of heart and brain health.

After having a bone scan two years, I was told by a PA that I had osteoporosis. She went by what the result showed for my left forearm T -3... (I had a spinal fusion years ago). I took her advice and got the Prolia shot and only took one. This was the worst advice of my life. No side effects were given and I have been miserable ever since. I pulled my scan and went to my doctor (not the PA).My other Tscores were less than -.05!!!! Now I'm trying hard to come back from daily pain all over that has stopped me from doing exercise. I have been told I need another spinal fusion and complete knee surgery. I'm starting HRT at 68 and having had my hysterectomy 23 years ago I hope it helps (no other medical issues at all). Doing my second scan (2 years later) next month. Thank you for all your thoughts. NO BONE MEDS FOR ME!

I'm a registered nurse and was also what you would call a chronic patient because I had many different medical problems as a younger person and almost every doctor I went to who diagnosed me with anything told me that it was crying chronic it would never go away. I truly believe it's an agenda to make people afraid and to put in their minds that there's nothing that can be done for their health except to take drugs and have surgery. It's really reprehensible and I can't tell you how depressing it became to hear that over and over from doctors that I not only worked with but took advantage of their care

This is incredible and gives me so much hope. I have a scan of -5.7 but not sure how accurate it is as I can't lay flat due to past back fractures. I believe mine was caused by my previous thyroid cancer that was undetected for years. I have since seen a bone metabolic doctor - nothing was showing up in it or my urine collection. I have declined meds for now and got put on estradiol because that was also very low (post menopause). I am on something similar to AlgaeCal, fortibone collagen, K2/D3 and the rest from food. I am in PT doing strength training and weight bearing exercises. I am working hard to get my life back. You are a big part of that. I enjoy your videos and content. Thank you.

I tried to put my results up here but it won’t accept a photo. I had a bone densitometry scan done in Jan ‘23 but didn’t get the results until Aug ‘23 so not knowing my results, I didn’t do anything except take VitD on its own. I then found out my LSpine Tscore was -3.7 which is severe OP. I did some of the things you suggested and on my repeat scan in Mar’24 my LSpine had improved to -3.1 which was a 10.4% improvement. My hip improved by 13.3% and my forearm by 3.7%. Both scans were done at the same radiological practice on the same machine. My endocrinologist was pretty happy. He will repeat in another 12 months to see if more progress has been made.

That’s amazing! I’m freaking out because my t-score in my spine went from -3.3 to -3.7 last year even though I ramped up calcium in my diet and supplemented with vitamin D. Tried to strength train but probably didn’t do enough. What specifically do you think made the biggest difference for you?

  • @louiseharris1171

Hi from Australia Shannon. I added K2 and magnesium to my VitD as VitD on its own can’t get to where it needs to be. I take about 3-4000 a day. I added prunes to my diet. I bought a weighted vest (5kgs) and started walking. On the days I don’t walk I wear the vest around my house doing housework 😏. My daughter dragged me to a gym where I do some resistance training - just light weights and very mindful of good positioning of my spine. I bought a vibration plate and instead of the recommended 10mins a day I stand on it (watching tv) for 2x20 min sessions a day. They are safe for up to 4 hours a day. My doctor told me not to take calcium tablets but to get the calcium from food. I climb stairs now instead of escalators. Basically I try to move more (says me lying in bed typing this out 😎). Don’t freak out. That just causes stress which is bad for your body. Chin up, pick out your choices and be determined to work at them. And put on some music and dance. It’s great for your bones…….and your soul.

I will never believe that there is no remedy for an illness only that we don’t know the remedy. If I believed there was no remedy for dementia when my Mum was diagnosed 13 years ago she probably would not be still with us because I reversed it with the help of a doctor and naturopath as well as with some of my own ideas. Now my girlfriend has osteoporosis and we have found many things that need to be rectified in her that will help especially her very low vitamin D.

I fractured my back at L1. It was diagnosed with a CT and an MRI. It also showed I have Osteopenia. Is it true, that because you have a fracture, your diagnoses immediately changes to Osteoporosis? Also, after 1 1/2 years, I am still in severe pain, can't bend, stand too long, or walk, without the aid of a walker. Is this normal? I feel my doctor isn't taking this seriously.

Dr. Lucas, I reversed osteoporosis once taking OsteoPrime Ultra. It is the best supplement on the market because it includes all the micro-nutrients required for your bones to absorb calcium. Unfortunately, one of my doctors decided that the reason I developed Osteoporosis in the first place was undiagnosed Celiac (which I do have). So I stopped taking my Osteoprime for around 10 years. Now the Osteoporosis is back, and I'm rebuilding my bones again. I just don't love taking the pills because they're large pills, but Osteoprime Ultra works! I got Osteoprime Ultra initially from Dr. George Kessler, in NYC who specializes in rebuilding bone density in persons with Osteoporosis.

Hi Doctor Doug. In January 17 th 2024 I went for a Rems test in the UK and the score on Right hip was ,the T- scores was ,_2.4 Z-Score -0.8 and now in May 6 th 2024 the T-score is - 2.3. and Z- Score-0.6 with the Left hip the same. The spine T- scores -1.7 Z- Score 0.2 in January and May 1 -7 Z_ score 0.3. That's in 4 months. But my Fragility score has gone up, January it was 32.1 in May it's 34. So hopefully more impact exercises will do the job I've been working at the gym with a personal trainer, dead lifts, overhead lifts, jumping etc. I will go for another Rems test next year in January 2025.

Why not? Nearly all the research on bone health issues are on women. Quite frankly it’s nice to see some diversity. 10% of men will suffer a fragility fracture, that’s a massive amount of people in the world. Your comment is full of prejudice for no reason. The person creating the video is a man for gods sake.

If a man gets osteo at 70 and breaks a hip , his life expectancy can plummet; Significantly in men much more so then women. About 30 % of hip fractures due to osteo are men . And life can become hell. Bones and artificial hips don't heal well in a 70 yo man.

Great choice. If a man gets osteo at 70, the life expectancy is horrible, hard to heal bone fractures at 70.
