I tried this last time I went to Costco. I moved two parking slots ahead, matched the side mirror, turned steering wheel fully, before starting to reverse. Meanwhile the guy behind me quickly and simply forward parked his car and left.

That's when you use the 45 degree parking method. The 90 degree is only good in small car parks where you haven't got much room, example when you have a space just as you enter the car park.

I'm practicing by putting plastic garden chairs on my drive 2.5 meters apart (The width of a parking space). If i hit them, no harm done to either chair or car and I know immediately if I've got it wrong. The challenge is, i need to find something to replace the 1st line of the 3rd parking space to line up my mirror with. Will figure that out tomorrow. My neighbours think I'm crazy, but better to hit a chair than another car!

Where i am from, if you go ahead three spots like that to reverse into a spot, it's pretty much guaranteed the guy behind you is gonna take that spot.

By the time I have reached the second parking spot, someone would have parked their car using the forward parking method or 45° parking method..

Thanks for the tutorial but what is the purpose of backing up in a parking lot. Wish the lot is full of parked cars. Some pathways between rows of parked cars are tight.

How do it in tight space, the space to maneuver is just about a car length 😢

Erm I guess it depends on car turning circle but if you start reverse on full lock that early I cannot believe you won't hit/brush against the cars parked on your left side before you get to your spot.

Try doing this when theres a car behind flashing lights and waits for you to finish your parking drama so he can move on 😂

That's ok we are all in the same situation looking for a space and reversing into one. The 45 degree is best though.

Clearer with this technique in empty parking slots. I tried thw 45 degree technique but it only works between cars. When there's no car around, i see too many lines in side mirror and end up reversing when i see the wrong line so i never end up in the correct slot

Maybe your angle is too small or too big but I am sure with practise, you will be able to get into your target parking spot

I have never succeeded in that method. I better look at side mirrors and the wheel then do the reverse. I practice like this.

This manuever is easy if you have a 360 camera built in with predictor guidelines.
