HOW TO REVERSE BALAYAGE | ADDING LOWLIGHTS TO MY BLONDE HAIR | PRO HAIRSTYLIST TUTORIAL
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I decided to tone my hair down and add some lowlights, so I'm showing you how to do a "reverse balayage" technique to create a balayage look on hair that is already really blonde. This is the perfect technique to use if you have light hair and want to go darker, but you still want to keep dimension and pops of blonde throughout. Let me know what you think of my new color! :)

@Sam Vay I love ❤️ 💕❣️this color on you!! I want this now!!! A lowlight color!!! Some of my hair that didn’t lighten to the pale yellow, have a bit of an orange yellow to them...do u think a 7G in sEQ cream would be ok to add with the 6N in cover plus from redkens? Thx

Your explanation of filling color was on point. THANK YOU. I’ve been trying to understand that concept for about 2 years now 😂
This is exactly what I needed to see, I'm trying to turn my full head blonde to balayage, so I've been watching SO MANY videos and yours is so informative! Thank you

@@emilytropic8345 hi, no I’m not, but I’ve cut and coloured my own hair (with varying success!) for years ☺️ I do a lot of research into what I want to do to my hair and see the mistakes others make so I know what not to do from videos 👍 x
YOU are FABULOUS! I’ve watched a multitude of tutorials and your delivery is just as professional as your techniques. Your pacing, side notes, lack of the the word “like,” is very much appreciated. Beautiful job!!!
this is EXACTLYYY what Ive been looking for. There is barely any videos on youtube that showcase this and you explained it perfectly. Thank you!
I love, love, love how technical you are and how you explain absolutely everything!!
I love how clearly you explained the whole process. The outcome is beautiful as well!
i love this diy hair color series!! thank you for explaining the formulas too
No one has ever explained hair color so well! You’re an amazing teacher! 💕Thank you!
Usually I don’t leave comments. But your video helped me 100% to understand what I need to do with my hair. I appreciate that you shared. Thank you! ✨
Thank you SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!!!! I am root grown about a 4-5 but with bleached Elsa white halfway down highlights (a-LOT of them) and I KNEW I needed to add some filler color and a “hairstylist of 22yrs” working there said I DIDNT need to!! And I’m glad I saw this before doing it or I would’ve been PISSED. And I was wanting to literally do this EXACT same thing!! So I wanted to match the roots but didn’t know if I needed to add red/copper tones and how to? You have saved my hair!!! And it’s SUPER LONG. So I’m gonna cut some of the bleached dried out ends off and do about the same. I saved your vid! I am sooooo grateful! Thank you!
The audio went out after 4 minutes 😢
Your hair looks amazing! This video was amazing and so easy to understand. I have a client who was over bleached and I was so worried about how to help her look more natural and I think this is going to be the perfect solution! Thank You!
You are great Sam. I’ve followed you for years now. I’m hair obsessed 🤩 lol I own a gymnastics school for 20 years. If Covid has taught me anything it’s - life is short - just do it. So I’m going to cosmetology school this fall & I am 53 years young! 😜. Yes some say I’m cray cray. I got this!! Thx Sam you’ve been a HUGE inspiration!! 💁🏻♀️ 🦋 💇♀️
This video is truly so helpful, I appreciate the explanation of the levels, and the reminder to add back those copper tones to get the brown to what it originally was, thank you so much!
your hair came out perfect! i really love your at home transformations 🤗

fantastic.. you explained what you was doing really well...
Super helpful! I’m a hair stylist but I have SUCH a hard time doing the back of my hair! I usually either do the roots and brush through (which never turns out how I want - usually too much root “shadow” and zero lowlites) or I just do a short root shadow and then use a highlighting cap! Which we all know is a huge pain and not ideal for damaged, thin hair! 😱🫢
I get so excited when you post!! You’re literally my favorite KZreadr ❤️🥺

This video was so helpful, thank you! I went pretty blonde at my last hair appt and decided it wasn't the most flattering on me. Now I can explain to my hair stylist what I would like to try next. Thank you!
this is exactly the video I have been looking for since January! Thank you so much for sharing!
I love it!! I totally understood everything you said.. I put a color over my blonde and it turned green only to find out that I didn’t deposit the colors I took out.. it was a mess.. I really need this tutorial for my family members who have the homemade ombré 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ this will help me to give them dimension and hopefully give them the balayage effect in the process!!
Omg! I LOVED your video, you're an amazing teacher! I've been looking for a DIY lowlight tutorial for blondes and yours is spot on!! Thank you 💖
Love the reverse balayage!!! U did a great job on yourself. Not easy to do it on yourself !!! 👍👍👍💇🏼♀️

Beautiful job! I’m new at this but with your help I feel a bit more confident! Thank you ❤️

Stunning , as always!!!
I finally did this.. came out Lil bit darker then I wanted but it’s okay bc falls around the corner and if I end up not liking it after a couple weeks it’ll start to fade or I can add couple highlights to the front again no biggie. Thanks so much I just went from all blonde to a bronde and I love it!! U helped me tremendously… thanks💗💗💗💗💗💗💗

I love it! Mine is too blonde and I need this done as well. Looks fabulous 😍
So much detail, this video was perfect!
Beautiful . I have white hair with some dishwater blond streaked in. I want reverse balayage with low lites on the bottom and gradually up to the top of my head and leave the white and natural roots. Before I went all over natural white I always (as in for 30 years) kept my hair dark brown with auburn . My younger natural hair had deep red undertones. (I use Laurel dark brown 2 bottles and auburn 1 bottle) I had very long, thick, curly hair. I have been to several colorists and gotten some wild results over the years. I have let my hair grow out again. Gonna give it a try on my own. Tx for the pointers.
Wooow, looks so much more nicer and definitely fits your skin tone. 😍

Great result! Thanks for the video🙏🏻 I may use it as a guide in a few weeks☺️
Omg yes! Very flattering and I need you so much right now 😭😭😭 has my hair done last week and she didn’t tone it so it’s orange.. and there’s one cheetah patch on the top. I went to Sally’s and bought supplies and will try to fix. Omg!! I am a hairdresser too and I have never colored my own hair (I have always gotten a heavy full highlight so it’s almost impossible 😂) but after watching your other videos doing your own hair and letting my roots grow for 9 LONG months I decided to give it a go and just went over the weekend and bought color to do a reverse balayage on myself!! Now I have a technique to really go off of 🤩 I’m so excited, yours turned out beautifully!! ❤️

Your literally my fave!
I love this. I wish you would have linked the colors used and showed us how much you mixed
Absolutely gorgeous!
I was watching this video late at night and made a mental note: I need to remember the colors and technique. Instead of adding just a pea size amount of the filler color, I did half and half. BUT since I'm so paranoid about making platinum dark, I did a test strand. Whew. It is more red obvi. But not bad. Although I will keep to your formula.. thing for me is I have grays so I will need to make sure to color all my roots. I am an over grown platinum at the moment. Wish me luck! Btw, your explanation about filling went off like a light bulb, being a retired stylist myself.
Lol I was wondering about the demi choice the whole video! Thanks for answering at the end!
So nice! You really did a great job!

Ty! I have dark blonde ash with natural honey high/low lights: very long hair with grown out near platinum heavy highlights. Bit of a blonde on blonde balyage/ombre completely due to covid hair neglect. I have been wanting reverse balyage since hight of covid over a yr ago. Do my own hair. But this I found intimidating. I had idea of how to do it. Found MANY video's that comfirned I was on right track. But every video was so OVERLY TECHNICALLY explained, by time got to end all confidence I had ,GONE. All of these stylists I would have do my hair, but all focused tutorial language for new hair professionals as if they were teaching rev. balyage techniques to recent color graduates vs the non-pro's meant for. I am a fine artist (painter) hair is very much like approaching a canvas for me. Not scared & respect it is skill & an artform I visually understand but in no way am I a pro. I understand the color how to safely create what I want. But understand limited hair terms find them overwhelming! These other very skilled, like yourself, stylists give DIY video's but make them so technical ,left me too discouraged to start. So much so it's been a yr!!! My hair now past mid back & still no reverse DIY balyage for me. I have now watched your video 3 times felt ready after the 1st! Doing it today. I can tell you are extremely skilled stylist & you spoke to us home hair junkies aware the technical terms would scare us. So THANK YOU. I taught art to talented kids when I was just out of college. I never started beginner classes teaching techniques heavy in pro terms because it would scare them from trying. I very much appreciate you taking your skill making it accessible to us brave talented but in no way pro hair junkies. Ty ty ty. Doing it today after a yr+ of getting discouraged. Subscribed liked & so excited for my DIY reverse balyage. U R my home hair heroine !!!!! Ty for dumbing it down just the right amount 😃
I absolutely love this video thank you so much!!!!
You’re amazing!!
I love how you explain things in detail....love you and your channel wish you could do my hair!!
