How to Restore your headlights - It works!!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This video demonstrates restoring your headlamps using the 3M headlight restoration kit. This is not a cheesy "wipe on, wipe off" product. Its is sanding and buffing method that works very well! Don't rebuy, repair!! Before and after photo at the end of the video.
Here is the kit that I used - amzn.to/2niM2yc

NP! I am glad you like it. I appreciate branding but I like to be a little more subtle.
You are doing great job. There is so little info available on Nissan Xterra so your videos are my go to place. I got 2015 Xterra.
somehow while watching another video, like this, i started yours in another window. And i actually ended up closing the other video and watching yours. The sound was playing at the same time as the other video i was watching. You win.

Awesome! It's funny because I just ordered another one of those kits and I am going to knock out that job on my Titan. The lenses are in horrible shape.
Thanks for showing your results. Now. I will get some. I know it works now. I was thinking that I need a crear coat to fix but this video show me to just get this kit

Ray the Car Guy, can you make a video on how to adjust the headlights on a Nissan Xterra? There are no videos on how to. I Would really appreciate it . Love your videos. Really helpful. Keep the videos coming!

I have an 06' Offroad Xterra, getting ready to add a separate trans cooler (and hopefully avert potential catastrophic transmission failure). Did you do this for your Xterra? Recommendations?

Sorry for being late to the party, but he has a manual transmission, so no need to worry about that. Another reason to get one with a manual. I just did and videos will be coming soon on my channel.
Ry, ever thought of installing fog lights? I'd kind of like to add some to my frontier....

RY I did my headlights and they look clear, but after turning on the headlights I see a fog through it. What did I do wrong? They look super clear in daylight but you can see them foggy when turning lights on. Please help. P.s. my headlights are the same as your headlights and I did use a clear coat on them. Oh yeah I used wet sandpaper instead of the way you did it

recommend cordless drill 2 speed if u have one they are easier to balance and u will have more control with out pulling on cord,2 speed makes easier learn it first then perfect it as u go.
Conflicting suggestions from others and curious if you've attempted replacing the halogens for LEDs. They do make them but from everyone I've talked too, they short or need to be replaced months down the road.

I did an HID kit for a while. It worked great for as long as I had it. Probably about a year or so. I was not a huge fan of the mess of wires in the engine bay and the color of the lights so I ended going back. Here is the install video if you are interested: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmVqq9SNpaaxpKQ.html
When I did mine, after watching your video. I removed the lens and worked on the bench.

Nice, were they a pain to take off?
Did you end up spraying a uv clear coat paint on the lenses?
@Rythecarguy
6 жыл бұрын
I did not. I hate masking stuff off. I know its a bit lazy but I wanted to do new lenses someday anyway.
@moravamanagement

@@Rythecarguy you had everything masked for sanding, just wipe the lens to make sure it's clean and then tape some trash bags. Spray with a good UV clear coat otherwise you'll be sanding every 2 years instead of every 10.
Are those plastic covers on your fog lights?
@Rythecarguy

Josh Jensen no, I don't have fog lights so they are just plastics discs in place of lights. It would be cool if I did though!

Ok, I got the pro 4 x model so it came with fog lights, so I hadn't seen an X without em.
👍❗
If comfortable with sand paper use Rubbing compound at $6 or so a tub. Heavy first then use a light rubbing compound. sponge pads each time make 2 or so passes over each hard-not smashing pressure. After clean heck out of it. when clean use rubbing alcohol to remove remaining dirt/oils. Last step is 2 coats of Plastx yeah that $10 stuff- should be good for several years. Or can just hit with plastx for a year plus. Either way you go about it is going to get messy. 3in sponge pads amazon about $6 ok so is more than "kit" but have plenty as in 30 plus cars.

Not bad. Pop the grill off. Remove the three obvious 10mm bolts retaining the headlight and then remove three screws on the inner fender to get the fourth and final headlight screw.

500/800 grit creating work. Why not just go to 3000 grit and polishing compound?

Because I wanted you to write this comment.
My dealership wanted 200 to clean the headlights on my 2005 Xterra.
I think you need to put a clear coat on the lens.
@Rythecarguy

Some kits call for it. If you headlight had one of those really strong coatings that you have to sand through then you might want to clear coat it. This headlight is the same plastic throughout.
Save yourself some money. You can do the same thing with toothpaste with baking soda, a damp rag and some elbow grease.
@Rythecarguy
7 жыл бұрын
+John “Doe” Patriot I respectfully disagree. I had to sand off layers and layers of plastic to get to a clear plastic. Toothpaste and baking soda are not going strip off multiple millimeter of plastic. If it does then you should never use toothpaste on your teeth.
How to restore your Head lights, just replace them with aftermarket ones 🙂🙂🙂
