Thank you for this. After getting diagnosed at 37, I found myself having to justify my diagnosis to even family. As someone who's ADHD also led to addiction and severe depression, I don't bother arguing anymore. Just getting the diagnosis gave me so much peace and reduced that overall nagging feeling something was wrong. The most common one I got was "aren't we all a little ADHD?". I am really grateful I was diagnosed late because the difficulty I faced is confirmation of my both the diagnosis and my ability to persevere and power through.

Same....it's a pity they think about it that way, especially when they are friends or family but hey, it's their problem🤷

I was diagnosed at 39. I don’t think my family truly understands how hard it’s been. They’ll say things like, “ I was making a sandwich and I got sidetracked because I had to use the bathroom. Maybe I’m adhd too”. It just makes bad sad and upset

Yep. Diagnosed when I was 56, and I was told by a pharmacist that there was no such thing as adults with ADHD.

He's not a snake oil salesman when he stays in his lane. He is just very uninformed on ADHD. Silly to blame him for a stigma thats always been around.
