Why I Get Nothing Done
Комедия
Recently I posted a poll on Patreon of possible topics for videos. And 'Days I Get Nothing Done' clearly struck a nerve. Yes, some days I surprise myself with how productive I am. And other days, like this day, not so much.
Let me know what you think of our latest video in the comments below.

I could see Rick opening a detective agency that only serves ADHD clients. He could be the ADHD Sherlock Holmes. He's just described my entire day back to me! How did he know?!

Where did all the videos go?
I have had so many days like this and I have never explained it to people because it just seems so unbelievable! 💜

I completely agree and when it isn’t the printer, it’s the garbage disposal, toilet, sink, ice maker, computer, monitor, garage door opener, video surveillance system, crab grass, side gates, compost bin, driveway cracking, veggie garden getting chewed on, birds soiling the driveway and cars, attic fan not coming on, more printer issues, phone issues, car problems, health insurance bills, banking and alll else that goes from working one day to corrupt and consuming the next day. For God’s sake my computer was playing KZread all day yesterday and today it says I have no sound output device. I am so glad to hear you describe my horror with such accuracy. Add in the time to research each issue and get more than one type of resolution and weeks go by without me knowing. Why do I feel so compelled to see these as opportunities to learn and fix, instead of what they truly are, time suckers that are not my strength, focus or goal for the day.

And you, kind sir, just elaborated my experience and approach!! It is funny, at the moment.. glad I have rural property, cuz sometimes, I get something like 'situational' tourrettes 😂
The scary part, is that if I didn’t know any better, this monologue was generated from my day … the 10pm “What the heck did I do today? No idea but I’m exhausted!” … ah screw it, time for a root beer! :)

Oh my Jesus, this is my life! Every damn day! lol From early childhood, I just thought this was normal and everyone just did all of this faster than me. In fact that is what my family pounded into my head, that I was slow... Gotta love how shitty family can treat children and be oblivious to the actual problem or cause. lol (not bitter)
I need a nap after watching this
Are your old videos gone come back any time in the future? I especially miss the "how you know that you have adad" video, so funny , always cheered me up

I'm so confused why the name changes and then those videos vanished. Everyone else just continues like nothing mostly happened, but I feel like I'm missing some huge thing that others have already talk about and I'm only one who don't know what's going on. What happened?
It always puzzles me because these are all REAL things that really happen(ed) but why does it feel like they happen so disproportionately to certain people? (Me!) I appreciated how Rick even explained how he was thoughtful about where he put the scanner because it's not always just carelessness on our part, it feels like I'm a magnet for all of life's mismatched pieces & processes 😪

And they keep changing technology at such a fast pace, so we have to grapple with changing things such a lot.
I was already planing to defreeze the fridge for weeks, so when I randomly felt like it while grabbing the milk I couldn't stop it. Because I knew I wouldn't do it when I actually plan to. So I spend 2 hours defreezing the fridge instead of doing what I was planing to do. Never ending cycle

It's like you're talking my life story. I don't even try to explain to my friends. My daughter understands because her daughter has ADHD and she before her. I've literally just completed a visual board so I can see at a glance the things I need to fit into my day....the board looks very impressive, however, I'm not convinced I'll have much success but I don't give up trying. I never succeed but I don't give up. 🙄😥

Aim for progress rather than success and notice n high five yourself. Like my taxes, still too hard but wow so much improvement since first yr I did them, now have some systems in place & hmrc codes etc saved in set places. Comparing me to me not me to the lesser spotted normal people helps :) Tbf as per my main comment I still get aaaargh n infuriated but less shake more hope! Visual board of your day plan/ tasks sounds interesting...do you do it on a pin board? How does it work? I'd be interested to know more if you are able to describe.

@@rickgreen4131 Oh, hey Rick! I hope you’re well. I’m much better after starting ADHD treatment which was brought on, in part, by your Unofficial Quiz/Questionnaire video. I’m a year into treatment and I’m healthier than I’ve been in a long time and I’m doing twice a well professionally. Thanks, Rick. I hope in the future that you choose to make more content like you used to. I know it helped 100s or 1000s of people.
It's so good to have you back 🙂 This is the video that made me realize I had ADHD. Thank you so much for changing my life for the better.
Wait wait wait, so, you’re telling me you have days with little energy and if you push through it instead of resting the next day is worse?! Is this also an ADHD thing??? So does this mean I haven’t had “mild” CFS since my early 20s, I’ve just been exhibiting another symptom ADHD???!!! * bursts into tears thinking how my life could have been if I’d been diagnosed before my 50s*.
I LOVE sticky notes! I can write down all the things I want to remember and then they need regular rearranging to keep my work area tidy. Eventually they get grubby and curl up, very satisfying tossing them out!

🤣🤣🤣👌🏽… so meee
EVERY day lately gets away from me... 4 hrs. have lapsed & I think it was only 30 minutes! Both of my sons have ADD but the rest of my family just sails through basic tasks & don't get why I act so 'overwhelmed'... even ON the adhd meds! I'm turning 55 yrs old next month, so maybe I'm getting senile early lol😁
Dear Mr.Green, a year ago i saw one of your videos " Unoffical ADHD Test for Adults" , just because it seemed to be a funny one. After watching it, i was shocked because you were describing me! I always thought ADHD people as "Kids who cant sit still and climb walls". Last week i got the Diagnose and perscription. İ am 42 years old and it breaks my heart to look back at my life living with this and blaming myself hundred times a day.. I hope medication and educating myself helps. Thank you!
Rick, you've perfectly described my day. One step forward, two steps back....with a smattering of "squirrel!" distractions. Next day, rinse and repeat!
Honestly. If I didn’t know better this is my daily life.
This is my life. Glad I found this channel.
This is amazing. Also, you should recreate/add your ADHD Quiz! It's always been one of my favorite videos.
Rick, i hear you loud and clear. I decided to set up a proper space for writing, as working on my bed is doing my upper back in. I live in a bachelor apartment so it's a snug fit. The idea is to make a spot for writing and online seminars, and to leave the bed as a daytime couch night time slumber area. An attempt to move my active mind stuff off my slumber area... point being. I had the table and chair set to go around noon. The minute I attempted to sit down and be productive or at least take a stab at it, about 17 things materialized and demanded attention. i wrote the first full paragraph at 9:30 pm last night. it's currently 2:29 am and of course, now that it's quiet. I'm physically tired, but my head's just chock full of things to think and write about. If I head to bed for 3, it's a round number, and if I sleep until 9:30, that's over six hours. I'll be great for my writer's class at 10 am this morning. The miracle of Zoom. 2;49 am. I have to be asleep in 11 minutes... I think there may be a flaw in my plan... it may have something to do with being ADD....
2:10 🙈 I thought I was the only one!!
Pretty much every day of my life in a nutshell.
Add to this the self-admonishment "Cmon! You're a tech guy. This should be easy for you!" and you have basically nailed my day.
LOL Typical day for me. I'll start to work on 1 thing, but then I have to do something else (unrelated) first to get to what I am working on and etc etc etc...It's like an avalanch of stuff always getting in the way.
I really meant to watch the whole thing but @4:25 I got distracted thinking about contracts....thanks for the reminder.
Love your video, I have the same problem. I’m an infj. We are great at lists, but sometimes not at as good checking it off. Probably cause our list is miles long and we really think we can get it all done. You are’ doing good….❤️❤️❤️.

It is 9:30 am and today might be just like this... anyways.. thanks Rick for posting another great video! I am going to go lay down and rest as a listen to the rest of this video....
2:18 - as I lay here in bed, eating at 3 am, knowing I have to wake up at 9.
I remember this story! It's a great one and very relatable.
Literally laughing out loud at him describing my day, OH MY !! (Maybe because we are the same age and recently diagnosed people?) Thank you for helping us laugh at ourselves, because some days it can feel so tragic... Your humor is more than helpful to our perspective! I thoroughly enjoyed ADD & Loving It?! as well. Thanks for all you are doing!
Ohhh that was great! And that's why I avoid printers. I don't know how, but you took such frustrating distressing memories and produced laughter till my face was full of tears and my belly hurt and I gasped for air! God bless you!
This is me every single weekend. It takes me whole day to get the very basic essential stuff done all because i go from one distraction to another to another….
Well, Rick. I am trying to fix my microwave, discovered I had ordered the wrong parts (didn't look closely at the Model #, then after taking it apart (KZread video guidance) found out it wasn't broken. Now can't align screw. I then decided to watch this video and decided to relax and watch it. Now I'm hungry!!. So very true and kind of what I just went through! Thanks for the reality check
Rick, THANKS SO MUCH!!!! I laughed so much I had tears!! I haven't laughed like that for a while! You are very good at real humour! I relate to a lot here! Thanks again for letting me know I am not alone!👽 no more! ☺
Honestly needed this today. Laptop keyboard broken, someone (!) spilled tea on it. Friend has offered to look & try to fix but I need to back up first sooo...no 8 or delete key. Joy! Plugged in extra keyboard which promptly went weird. Gave up before some IT got injured & found soothing comedy yo watch. Oh and it just occurred to me, I coulda just written it on my phone!? But - writing a ta-DONE list at end of the day can be really surprising when you realize all the random bits you did. Felt like I'd done nothing, but actually did a lot, tbf I do incl write list, shower but also check in with sister etc along w admin tasks. Tidied study clearing desk ✅ Email drafted ✅ found plug in keyboard check ✅ I do try now if something like after those damn evil devil forms happen...once I've sorted it how ever that long saga time - I'll try to put some system or thing in place eg download scan app or store my signature & initials in a folder labelled with that title. Let the aaaargh propel me to make next time a little easier!
This is Comedy gold and it hurts 😂
I needed this today! I've felt this way the entire week. 😓
Story of my life, the difference is if I need to scan something, I just give up :D There is too many scanning apps for me.
I really miss your video with the unofficial test, but your new series is great as well. :) When you said, "Grow up!" I heard decades of this in my mind...I still giggled. Your unofficial test actually confirmed to me that I have ADHD shortly before my official diagnosis at 44.
Oh my goodness! Rick, I adore you! It’s exhausting to listen to your experience, and now I’m thinking- no wonder I’m so often utterly mentally exhausted!
What happened to your ADD channel?? I'm so sad all the videos are gone...
😂😂lol, oh my gosh this is PERFECT. You just made a skit of my daily life for the past month. Then I’ll have a good day then another bad month.
Sooo sooo funny because I related to that completely!!! Thank you for making me laugh about it!
4 min watched and I laughed about 5 times!!! 🙈🤣👍
Answer's there at 2:40 . Don't take speed with your root-beer.
You understand me. Thank you.
I have been time blind today! I have focused about 8 hours today. I have been fighting with my hydrological model.
This accurately describes most of my days!!!
hey rick i just watched add and loving it and want to watch add and mastering it but i cant find it anywhere... can you please tell me where to find it?
That sounds like one of my typical days, but not in that order. I just got my diagnosis today, all the happy :) I wouldn't mind a video of you talking about your model railway and trains with maybe a splash of things that distract you
This is too real. 😂
Amen, brother.
Too real.
That thing related to taking photo of initials and scanner app. I can totally relate with it. It happens with me so much. 😭😭😭😭
But where did the unofficial adhd test go? I loved that video thats the video I would send people I thought that had adhd. But its gone. I loved it.
Thank you for describing this so perfectly! My biggest question is What do "normal" people do differently??? You said your wife is good at this stuff. I'd love to watch another video like this one describing her going down the same path of opening an email and signing a contract.
This is really killing me but also giving me LIFE because it means I'm not alone. Sheesh!
I feel like I've seen this video before... Why are there only 3 months of videos? What happened? Why did the name change?
Thank you! You have made a difference in my life.
Usually, my answer to "where did time go?!" is "Hyperfocus". 😅
You used to have a hilarious video called "The Unofficial ADHD Test for Adults" but I can't find it!
OMG it’s me 😅
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈 Love you Rick!!!
Oh, my! I've been laughing outloud with RELIEF through this awesom 17 min. video. I've forgotten about my ADHD part of my brain and dangerously went into "I'm dumb" mode. It's just my unique ADHD brain, and it's ok! Thank you, thank you for reminding me with humour, I'm not alone!. I think you took a peek into my brain and nailed. it. The world is ok after all. :)
'You may also enjoy' and I DO also enjoy... 😳💀
