me too !I tried 8 times following directions that came w the lock. Once I did the learning part it worked. Why does Kwikset not include that in the directions.

Nice work! This video saved my sanity. Got the deadbolt direction changed for a new door and the codes installed. Much Appreciation!

I keep getting red light. I do the reset and follow your instructions and works up to the point where I press 0 and top button to open and close the deadbolt, but I get a red light? ...I also bought a fresh pair of batteries and till does the same?

IF YOU BOIGHT FROM COSTCO: It's like best buy, almost the same, but not in the details. IT WILL NOT MOVENIN AND OUT, but it will learn right/left, based on where it is unlocked. When you install, make sure it goes back and forth with the lever easy, if not, you need to move the rod 90 degrees and put back on so it will. Next step, do the learn with 0. Now, enter the 0000, kwk(lock) button, 1, kwk, new 4-10 digit code, kwk. Should blink green and beep twice(both). Repeat for up to 6 codes. 3 beeps and red means it messed up somewhere, so if you hit the wrong button, just wait for this and start over. PC is bbn programming code (0000)default, and can be changed as follows: Current pc(0000, default) kwikset button(kwk), 4, kwk,(your new programming code), kwk. Done. Don't loose or forget this number. You will need it in the future.

Next feature is the temporary code. Like having an exterminator, electrician, mover, guest, or whatever have temporary access without handing over a key.... programming code, kwk, 9, kwk, new temp code, kwk. This is a one time only code, and won't work a second time, unless programmed in again. Next, disable all electronic function, including all codes: Program code, kwk, 8, kwk. Use the key to lock and unlock and electronic function will return.

Could you set this lock to lock itself with a time limit just in case you forget to lock ?

How do I put in another code after i reset it?

Hi, I did a reset, the door look open, did the 0000 an 0 for programing directions but it dosen´t work (red lights), tried it 10 times but dosen´t work every time red lights. If I close manually the look en do the direction process it works backwards (to close you need te usercode and to open just push the kwikset-button. May you had the same problem some day and know the solution. thanks, best regards Kai

i had the same problem. it will only recognize the code if it thinks it is "unlocked" so what you need to do is start with the bolt in the "locked" position (with the bolt sticking OUTSIDE of the door) , enter the "0000" "enter"-it will flash green and beep then start flashing orange, while it is flashing orange, turn the lever so that the bolt is INSIDE the door. NOW, press "0" "Enter". it will run through the program where it comes out, then goes back in, and then beep twice with a green light. now it is programed correctly.

Thank you Thank you Thank you! Although the video was helpful, the manual really explains how to learn the code, delete the default code, and set a new code! Very important to delete the default code, otherwise anyone can enter your home by pressing 1234! I was able to set it up in 5 min. Thanks again for sharing.... and I also emailed the PDF instructions to myself for future use.

If only I went to this video before reading the directions on the battery cover. Now, I can't do anything with this lock as nothing I do works.

None of this seems to work for me. I don't even get a beep with the reset. I get plenty of beeps for other things and it has fresh batteries.

Reset is the only thing I can figure out lol...I held the reset button for over 5 seconds...just hold it down and you should hear the 3 long beeps. Hope this helps and good luck

How to add User Codes CAUTION: A User Code is used to unlock the door while a Programming Code is a password for making changes to the lock features. 1. Make sure the lock is unlocked and the door is open. 2. Enter your Programming Code - for new installation, default is 0-0-0-0. 3. Press Kwikset. You will hear one beep. 4. Press 1. 5. Press Kwikset. You will hear one beep. 6. Enter a new User Code. It must be 4-10 digits. 7. Press Kwikset. You will hear two beeps if successful. If you hear three beeps, it was unsuccessful. Repeat from step 1 slowly. 8. Test the code: While your door is open, lock it. Wake the screen and touch the random lit digits.Enter your new User Code, then press Kwikset. The door should unlock.
