@@user-ly8yj4fw9w I am a great fan of AS chalk paint. It's pricey because it's the best. She is the Godmother of Chalk Paint. You have to understand that chalk paint is meant to create texture, hence the thickness of it. Brush strokes are texture and if you watch an AS chalk paint tutorial, she will instruct that you paint every which way but a straight line. It's meant to create the character of an old vintage piece. Pour AS chalk paint into a separate container and add water, I do 2 paint to 1 water. Have a spray bottle with water and periodically spray while brushing and this will help eliminate brush strokes. If you want even more smoothness, sand with a 220 between coats and after sanding the last coat, use a damp microfiber cloth and wipe it down. You will have a most beautiful finish with no brushstrokes. Topcoat with a polycrylic, matte or satin topcoat, or use AS clear wax. You will not be disappointed especially after all the work you put into it.

I have an old dresser almost identical to this. It just doesn't have the little medallion in the middle. But now I can visualize the perfect color for it to bring it back to life. I love the simple elegance of this dresser.

Hi Kacha, I am Patty Hurtado, I use my husbands sign on so it says Anthony but today I did a piece and I have always fund it very difficult to apply wax to dark pieces. Today I did a piece that has desk that has a deep piece and I was worried about chipping the paint when trying to wax. Well my husband told me to try and use a sponge but those yellow sponges that you use to wash a car. I cut it in 4 pieces and I waxed and finished the piece within 15 minutes after using the sponge!!! OMG, I was so excited. Now I won't be dreading the waxing anymore. Thank you for your videos, you inspire me!!!!

I love your techniques, personality and style! What a great eye you have! My tastes are much more boring so seeing your stuff makes me smile! Wanted to say you could've covered a section of the trim with hot glue, peeled it off and used that as a mold for the missing trim. So striking and lovely!

You should propose to Dixie Belle to create a color based on the exact Plum Crazy/Caviar mix that you created in this video -- a blackened plum color. So many people liked it in these comments (almost every single one!). It is really wonderful and royal looking and (with the gold you used) reminds me of Fabergé colors. Very beautiful.

OMG! I LOVE this color! I never thought about mixing caviar with plum crazy. I’ve done amethyst and plum crazy (I saw Crys’Dawna use this combo on several pieces), which I love, but adding the caviar gives it a deep rich look that’s gorgeous! So thank you for this idea. I have a piece I’m doing in purples and this will be perfect to blend with aubergine on it. I’m using the Redesign with Prima decoupage paper Zara on it too, so this is a great color combo for it. Thanks again for sharing your talent, Kacha!

You made the most sophisticated color of purple I’ve ever seen on furniture. Great job.

Kacha, on that trim detail repair, you really could do a piece that would be indistinguishable from the original, especially under paint. The cheapest way would be to make an air clay or Fimo mold off the existing trim a few inches longer than you need,, air dry or bake, respectively, and then cast your mud or plaster into the mold. That's a trick k we used in restoring San Francisco Victorian architectural details. Btw, I'm madly in love with this piece today. Plum Crazy is AMAZING!! Love your work!!

@@KachaFurniture In the tutorial you said you should have applied the black wax befor the hyde. . So would you apply clear wax, dark wax, then the alligator hyde?

Hey katcha Nice piece of furniture . Can’t wait to see what colour you do this in. I think I would do it in black and I would change handles to antique gold cup handles and I would keep the gold trim around the draws .

Hey Kacha, have you ever thought about using molding putty for your missing trim? Well really it's great for missing anything, and the best part is once you make the mold you can continue to use it on other pieces in the future. The one that I use is a two part silicon epoxy putty that cures in 2o minutes. I like the putty because it's easy to measure, mix, and mold and it's super clean so I don't have to do any extra clean up. Once the putty sets it's easy to peel it off and make a perfect cast of what you need with some paper clay then you can just glue it in place with a little wood glue and once that sets you are good to go. Just sharing the thought incase no one has ever mentioned it to you.

I have thought about it. Usually I just get the piece fix it and go. I end up not wanting to spend to much time on that kind of stuff when I am going to paint over it anyway and most people will never even notice! Thank you for watching! ❤️
